He’s like 12 so I actually think he does@Monday Nitro , North Cariolina is a beautiful state. I swear you just write drivel to get a reaction. There's no way you believe half of what you write.
It's definitely looking that way regarding the blue bloods poaching top coaches. It seems more and more like blue bloods will have to hire like everyone else, and get the best available up-and-coming. coach rather than the best available non-blue blood coach. The advantage they have is they can probably win the competition for those coaches in the open market. Although even then there will be exceptions. UofL is higher on the CBB tier list than Michigan, but Dusty chose Michigan between the two.I don’t know why we’re sure they could even get Oats or Golden. I think Oztelberger and Lloyd turning them down already shows pretty definitively that the era of blue blood programs being able to poach any coach they decide on is over.
I think Donovan could still be in play based off some of the comments I’ve seen about him being frustrated with the Bulls perennially having a dud of a roster right now. That’s probably their last crack at someone with Final Fours already on their resume. If he turns it down, then they’re probably down to taking a swing on someone like Schertz who’s shown some success at lower levels, but is still currently in a situation where UNC would legitimately be a big step up in giving him resources to win with.
He went as far as Pope this year with a LOADED roster compared to us, LOL. Thank heavens for Walter Clayton Jr.s lighting in a bottle last year.Golden seems like the kind of guy that would relish taking over the reigns at UK!

I really don't want him or Oates but I'd take Golden over Oates all day long. I'd make Lloyd turn us down first, then Byington but there are still others I'd rather have than Oates. He's won nothing because his teams don't play defense. Not to mention, he just seems creepy as hell to me.Golden seems like the kind of guy that would relish taking over the reigns at UK!
Hmm, ever heard of the outer banksWhy go somewhere and have your every move criticized by salivating dogs that try to speak for everyone, lol. Who'd want to live in North Carolina, BTW? Yuck.
Why go somewhere and get run off when you don't meet idiot expectations? Smart man.
I’m of the opinion that the cheats won’t be landing an “elite” coach. Just about bet they won’t get a coach that’s won a title, highly likely not get one that’s even been to a FF. I wonder what a lot of our fans will think then. Even WITH the Jordan pull. LMFAO!It’s almost as if in 2026 establishing oneself at a lower pressure job to where one could theoretically build their own legacy is preferable to being just another guy sitting in the main chair in a fishbowl where everything from your gameplan to choice of breakfast sandwich is heavily scrutinized by hundreds of thousands of undefeated yet unemployed coaches with perfect 0-0 records.
I really think blue bloods are gonna have to “take flyers” on up and comers unless there’s a Roy Williams at Kansas type who’d only leave for 1 school.
I could wind up being totally wrong. We’ll see what Carolina does because this very well could be us next year.
Lmao Oats and Golden are dominating college hoops?! They’ve made a grand total of TWO final fours COMBINED!That's pretty significant. I kinda hope Donovan just takes the job so they don't go after and get Oats or Golden. Golden at UNC or Kansas would be a nightmare. Donovan will probably be good there but he doesn't really scare me like the guys currently dominating college hoops.
Obviously, he doesn’t either. I’ve asked him point blank on two entirely separate occasions and he’s yet to respond with an explanation. I support Pope and I’m the absolute FURTHEST individual from woke that you’ll ever meet. Guaranteed.Still haven't figured out if it is a bit or not that this guy has to use woke in every one of his comments
That’s about what I figured. You’re FOS!And we have a winner! And this is why I use that word in a lot of my comments, to trigger you and your ilkNow go watch The View or something, and leave the basketball discussion for the real fans of the sport!
I’ve been saying this for years on here! UK is not only a blueblood, they’re THE bluest of bluebloods and it’s a pressure cooker like none other in college basketball! These fools that think we can land ANY coach we want are just that, fools! It's definitely looking that way regarding the blue bloods poaching top coaches. It seems more and more like blue bloods will have to hire like everyone else, and get the best available up-and-coming. coach rather than the best available non-blue blood coach. It may incentivize waiting a year longer on a coach you're otherwise ready to fire, if there aren't many obvious candidates from lower ranks. That gives you the possibility of firing during the season too, and getting the first shot in the next round of hiring.
Or you can take a chance on a top assistant, like Arizona did with Tommy Lloyd (or UK did with Stein, though I think football is a bit different).
Still haven't figured out if it is a bit or not that this guy has to use woke in every one of his comments
So the move then is to hire Mark Pope? What are all the coaches that dont want this job, speaking on things of which you are very certain?I’ve been saying this for years on here! UK is not only a blueblood, they’re THE bluest of bluebloods and it’s a pressure cooker like none other in college basketball! These fools that think we can land ANY coach we want are just that, fools!
You sound like you dont want uk to be successfulPeople don't get it, basketball has changed. Why should Golden or Lloyd go ANYWHERE. Golden has won a title at Fla, Lloyd about to where he is. Both guys have jobs pretty .much for life at schools that will pay them big bucks to stay. Why go to a " Blueblood" and face relentless pressure, life under a microscope and relentless criticism for every decision. People used to say coaches will come because they want to win a title. When you can do it elsewhere with less pressure and the same money , why come. Please don't tell me for history or tradition, most guys today don't give a damn about eithet.
If he wins the NC this year (or any other) at Arizona, I wonder if he would leave. He's a Washington native and he spent many years coaching at Gonzaga, so I could see him going home.He will return to Gonzaga when Few retires.
He kept his home in Spokane., He loves the area.
Western NC is pretty damned nice but it's filling up with people now. The rest of it I can do without though. Why go somewhere and have your every move criticized by salivating dogs that try to speak for everyone, lol. Who'd want to live in North Carolina, BTW? Yuck.
This is where I’m at also. Keep Oats and Golden away from UNC and KU.That's pretty significant. I kinda hope Donovan just takes the job so they don't go after and get Oats or Golden. Golden at UNC or Kansas would be a nightmare. Donovan will probably be good there but he doesn't really scare me like the guys currently dominating college hoops.
We couldn’t even land SCOTT DREW! I gotta better one for ya, what coaches DO want this job?!So the move then is to hire Mark Pope? What are all the coaches that dont want this job, speaking on things of which you are very certain?
We had Mitch Barnhart leading a coaching search, I think id rather have my 90 year old dementia riddled grandma overseeing thingsWe couldn’t even land SCOTT DREW! I gotta better one for ya, what coaches DO want this job?!
I can’t disagree there. LolWe had Mitch Barnhart leading a coaching search, I think id rather have my 90 year old dementia riddled grandma overseeing things
Wait! Wait! Wait! I thought every top coach was sitting by the phone waiting for Kentucky or North Carolina to call and offer? That is pretty much what I've been reading on this board for the past 2 years! Now, you are telling me that ain't so??? I am devastated! It’s not easy getting your top choices, even at a blue blood.
The best Arizona reporter said conflict with the AD was a huge issue.I dont think the AD has nearly as much to do with this as you think. I think UNC is much more of a lateral move than you realize, and honestly, I could probably say the same for UK.
Oats has already said he isn't leaving Bama. As for Golden, I know I am in the minority and may have to eat some crow but I think he is overrated. Yeah, he won a title but Hubert came within a few points of winning one. Mike Davis had a FF appearance. I could go on and on.This is where I’m at also. Keep Oats and Golden away from UNC and KU.
1. They would kill it there.
2. More importantly I want those two available next year when we hire a coach.
It’s going to take an AD with balls who will sit down with an agent a year before they plan on making a move and planning all this out I think. It will take a massive offer these days for sure. It could be done but it will have to be strategic. It’s almost as if in 2026 establishing oneself at a lower pressure job to where one could theoretically build their own legacy is preferable to being just another guy sitting in the main chair in a fishbowl where everything from your gameplan to choice of breakfast sandwich is heavily scrutinized by hundreds of thousands of undefeated yet unemployed coaches with perfect 0-0 records.

I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion from his post. I think being realistic and logical is best, if what you want is to be successful. I just think he's being logical about it is all. I don't see anything wrong with that but I do think we can get most, not any..coach if the money is right. I'd make Lloyd turn us down first, then Dusty May. I'm not big on Oates. There's more to bball than just good offense and Oates' teams just don't typically play defense well. IMO, it's why he hasn't won anything yet.You sound like you dont want uk to be successful
I don’t want Oats and his willingness to overlook what his players do, anywhere near the program.Oats has already said he isn't leaving Bama. As for Golden, I know I am in the minority and may have to eat some crow but I think he is overrated. Yeah, he won a title but Hubert came within a few points of winning one. Then again, Pope could have a good season next year and I doubt we even look for a different coach. Again, just being realistic here. I think he'll have a good season. Not necessarily a final four or a natty...but a good season. One that keeps his job intact. I know that's gonna hurt some feelings but I think it's pretty likely to play out that way. Gotta wait to see how the portal and any big recruits play out yet. It's too early to know right now.
