Not having Ratiu in the lineup is a big blow because it takes a lineup where each player is already 1-2 spots too high against good teams and makes that 1 spot worse obviously.
We had our chances. Wright at #6 had a point to win his match, I think 2 chances but maybe just on a 40-40 point. And Xu served for his match. Get those 2 and we win.
not taking anything away from the guys, they are definitely short handed without Ratiu. Pretty successful weekend with a great win over Stanford.
Does this team have any good recruits coming in next year. This is a shame for the past two years we cannot seem to get a true number 1 players and some other top notch players like our women's team. I just do not understand it. Is it NIL money? What seems to be the problem? We have a top notch facilities now.
We did so well in those Fall tournaments (especially in doubles), it was very reasonable to expect better dual results than we’ve had. There’ve been many super-close matches so probably some bad luck too.
I know there is a good recruiting class coming in but the program has been stagnant for a while now.
On cue, we get the doubles point when it’s very unlikely to matter against the number 2 team in the country. In matches where it was probably the difference between winning and losing (Cal, SMU, VT) we don’t get it.
As of today's rankings we would be the last team in the field. Big weekend coming up with the Florida swing, 2 other teams riding around the bubble line
