There was a lot of good in last night’s near comeback. I mean, that was probably the most poorly played game I’ve seen us play all year against a power hitting Top 5 team, and we still nearly pulled it out.

My biggest concern is that if we don’t get McPherson back soon, we don’t have a 3rd weekend starter that we can rely on, and it’s going to cost us some games. It’s just incredible to me that out all these talented arms, we don’t have one additional pitcher that can get us 4-5 innings without completely unraveling, and that’s a problem.

Foster just can't consistently control his pitches. Not sure what the issue is, but constantly throwing ball 1 and pitching from behind is a terrible recipe for success. Whatever he figured out last week was gone last night.

Pitzer seems like he should be an option if we're looking at many more weeks without McPherson.

Positive…Jay Powell is Foster’s coach in the Cape Cod League. He says he has ‘can’t miss’ pro potential.

It’s just not showing up on most nights, this season. Scratch your head, SPS. It’s there. Jay knows more than me.

We got the loss, but oddly I feel like we left the game with the momentum, especially with Valincius pitching today. If we can pull out the next two and only lose Thursday night by one run, we had a very successful series. Top five series win and some young pitchers that got valuable experience in high leverage situations. If we can get McPherson back soon, this situation may prove valuable in the tournament.

Yeah, we took a loss. But it's like I said earlier, you may beat this team sometimes, but if you do you will earn it for 27 outs. This team won't lay down and quit. Hate the loss, but really impressed with the way these guys battle. That said, there are still things we just have to improve on.

Agree. I've said something similar and I think we all agree this team has something that we've not seen in a while. Grit and determination for starters. I think a lot of us had PTSD from these past few years and when we were down by a handful of runs, it just felt like we had no chance in hell at recovering. This team is totally different

I agree completely. Also, we need a better place to duck hunt in the delta. If you know of any places or could help with that, please shoot me a DM. The place where we go just isn't allowing us to even discharge our cartridges anymore. There was a time where the hunting there was better, but it's not that way anymore.

Exactly, and who knows... we may drop another one this weekend. The flip side to all of this, though, is that IF we get a healthy McPherson back and dare I say turn Bauer into a reliable shut down closer by the end of the season, we are gonna be one helluva force to be reckoned with come postseason. Either way, our lineup is one of the best in the country, and we're getting a lot of young arms some valuable experience in the meantime

To continue with the positive theme...

Impartially, we are a clear favorite today. One of the very best pitchers in the country so far this year against Georgia's 2nd best. Still got many of our best bullpen arms available and they really stretched one of their best last night. We're home and we finished last night gaining back momentum after a tough start. I think we win comfortably tonight.

But the truth is we could even get swept and it wouldn't be a disaster because we've started so strongly. I don't think that's happening, but I'm not going into any kind of funk based of last night. If there was a game we were gonna lose it was that one, and we were one big hit away from snatching it from them after they led by 8.

As an opposing coach I would not want to draw Mississippi State in a regional or super regional.
