"He issued his first public statement Tuesday evening, explaining he would be stepping away from golf to seek treatment and prioritize his well-being."

This is the first time I've seen him admit he needs "treatment". That's Step 1 of the 12 step program, to admit that they are powerless over whatever it is they are addicted to i.e. pills, alcohol, sex (he's already had treatment for that) or whatever the substance or action may be.
He went to SA treatment at Pine Grove (or one of their affiliates) in Hattiesburg 15 or so years ago when he screwed up and later divorced the Swede.

He pleads not guilty and demands a trial by jury
Well, he sure looked glassy-eyed and out of it in his booking picture and again when he left the jail. He's takes pain pills, but that's not a crime. The crime comes in when you take too many of them and it affects your ability to do certain things, like drive a car.

I wonder what the Range Rover onboard computer said his top speed was on the road. It was a 30 mph speed limit. I believe he said he was doing something on his cell phone and didn't notice the truck/trailer slow down. That's a crime. I suppose asking for a jury trial, his prerogative, means he's hoping fans won't convict him. It'll be hard to assemble a jury with 12 people who've never heard of him or have no opinion one way or the other. It'll probably lead to a plea deal of some sort.

I wonder if he ever got rid of his hiccups? You can tell he’s half out of it…..almost fell asleep on the ride to the big house.

It's probably been mentioned here in this thread, but I just saw the body cam footage of Tiger being called back to the officers, and he said something like "I was just talking to the President". First of all, why is Tiger so entitled that he's allowed to wander away during an arrest? And second, he obviously was trying to prove to the officers "who he knows". I've always enjoyed watching him play golf, but he's a prick of a human. He might as well have said, "Do you know who I am??".

I don't think he's terrible for taking pain pills. He's had so many surgeries that yes, he's bound to be in unfathomable pain. But the "holier than thou" attitude is over the top.

As many surgeries as he’s had I’m betting he has a pill problem. It happens a lot sadly.
It's an epidemic. Those type painkillers are very addictive and many can't shake it. Addiction is real. It's tough to get out of it. He has the $$$ to keep getting them and some Dr (or dealer) keeps providing them to him as I'm sure they're prescription. If I had that kind of $$$ and that addiction, I would hire a driver.

I don’t care who you are. A human life is worth more than all the money in the world. You risk that by drinking under the influence you deserve jail.
My uncle is a drunk. He has lost it all and including his family. Luckly, he got help and has found his family again. He actually refuses to own a car and about 10 years ago sold his because he knew he had an issue and refused to have the temptation to drive. Dude would walk about 2 miles to the store for beer. Thank god he hated walking and got clean.
Great for him to get clean.

I know firsthand. One of our employees got hooked on them after an accident he was in. He’s back clean but it took a long hard road to get there.

I had a friend in high school who drove drunk way too often. He made it through and didn't hurt anybody thankfully, but he was one of those guys who drove faster after drinking. Not everybody handles it that way, but Tiger sure seems to become more Tiger when he's loaded.
