I know it won't happen but I find myself hoping that Pike rips into the team in his post game presser for wasting his time on this tourney.

These kids don't gaf about anything other than trying to stat pad. And they ******* suck at it.

And then he announces he's had enough of this and retires.

I can dream
Like the second part

Pike is not an "outstanding coach." What a joke. And whatever coaching ability he ever had, far gone now. Over the hill, a dinosaur, and now a glorified cheerleader, as earlier poster said.

It’s his fault. Dude let them pick the practices leading up to the tournament. What did he expect?

He treated preparation in a Mickey Mouse way and got Mickey Mouse results.

Zrno, Nwuli and Grant played like this was there own personal showcase for the portal. Team basketball nonexistent. It was YMCA get the ball throw up circus shot basketball. 2 min left down 10, Lino does a good job penetrating Francis wide open in the corner but he just puts up a circus shot against a double team that had no shot. But, that's Rutgers team basketball for ya!!

The funny thing? there’s only one player on Rutgers whose stock went up from this game. That’s Ogbole. He solidified IMO that he’s worth the 400K rate (or whatever dollar value the high major back up center rate is these days) and there will probably be some A-10 level teams willing to pay him to be their main guy too.

He probably wants to move on but we desperately need a starting center and 4 already. Grant cannot be our starting 4. I don’t see how we’d possibly buy a back up center also and add someone with height who can handle the ball.

I think people will be disappointed with the end result of our portal haul

Yeah if college gm peeps were watching besides Lino first few minutes which quickly disappeared it was not a good night for players getting bags

Lino has great speed. Though it’s a long shot, I’d still love for him to stick around. Just him and Tariq and I don’t much care about anyone else. Buchanan will probably stay and that’s fine I guess. He won’t cost that much and can slide to a lot of positions.

The problem is, even if we do succeed in convincing both Tariq and Mark to stay, we still need to buy more things than we’re going to be able to afford. A starting caliber center and a starting power forward are a must. Originally I was thinking we could maybe get away without a power forward, but then I realized when Ogbole lleaves, someone will have to play the 5 when our starting center isn’t in the game. We’re not going to be able to afford to also buy an Ogbole in the portal. And then, even if we’re keeping 2 of Tariq, Mark and J Mike, we still need a taller player who can handler the ball (wing height).

I’m also now worried that Pike plans to just slot Grant in as the starting 4 out of loyalty. Seeing how many minutes he got tonight despite doing nothing.

I’d bet my mortgage right now we will not land 2 portal centers who are better than Ogbole. No way. I hope we don’t even try and instead aim to bring in a physical 4 who can play stretch 5 minutes. We really can’t proceed with Grant as our starting 4. Not just one or two bad games. He’s a major liability.

As much as some would love to just wipe the slate clean with everything, we can’t start over in the backcourt too. Have to ride with what we have and maybe add one taller ball handler. We have no choice. Since we can only afford a mass overhaul of one (if that) has to be the frontcourt. We can’t roll with what we have in Grant, Nwuli, Denis, Fall, Ogbole (already kind of announced gone).

oh he absolutely does I bet and THAT would be unbelieveable. When I saw him start again I just thought "here he goes again". No accountability is spot on .

I’m glad this game happened to remind everyone real quick before the portal opens how bad the roster is

even the few pieces worth keeping reminded fans they are bit players on a good team not one legit starter

what was the purpose of going if you didnt have a set plan or real organized practice leading up? Nothing was gained by playing this extra game and maybe time was lost getting a start on the portal

looking forward to pike defenders and people supporting playing in this after that

The foul shooting was poor also. Powers 0-for 2 and Mark and Davis were 1 for 2 did not help in 2nd half .And Davis played well.

I’m sure Francis’ deal is done already. They said he hurt his ankle at practice. Sure seems a step slow on that jump stop tonight. This game isn’t impacting anything. Whatever he was getting he’s getting. As BAC alluded, perhaps we end up saving 100k becuase maybe there won’t be a big exterior push now from some outside team.
Yes his last Big ten tournament game and this crown were def 7 figure worthy. Mediocre sub 500 competition and just awful games. He is a bench player.

Also note despite winning the regular sesson at Stony Brook 4 times and 2 seasons in 2 place, Pikes only delivered one conference tournament championship. 6 very good seasons and it took him to his 11th year to actually complete the deal and make the ncaa there.

And now his first 20 loss sesson at Rutgers in year 10

Yup last night turned out to be be a negative for the program. Not a good look as if anyone was paying attention to this ****** tournament. People just a 14-20 team that had no business playing in post sesson. They were every part of their NET which put them 5th worst power 5. Its why most schools pass on an invitation.

Francis 3-15

Mark 5-14 after starting 3-3, zero assists.

Grant 26 minutes, 1-3, 1 rebound. At least he got one more than I did.

Davis 7-9 17 points, the only guy who can be pleased with his offensive stats tonight.

Oh well.
not easy to be a starting guard with 25 mins and have zero assists.I knew he was going to chuck it. there was a two on one early in second half he didn't even consider passing .you could see the disgust from asst coaches.

Our needs are great. Yeah, there is no way you come back expecting Grant to be a starting 4, I don't even think hes a four. I can see a world where he or Buchannon end up our starting 3 because we can't bring enough help in. Bigs have to be a priority and I think ive changed my mind that we also need a starting level combo guard. Mark and Riq can't be a starting backcourt. I hate kids leaving yet almost hope Mark leaves.

Good guy.. perhaps too good to be a winning coach. IDC what others say. He is NOT a winner. IF what people are saying is true about the practices for this tourney I'd have him in my office Monday morning with his crap packed. He represents the University and that is NOT a professional way to approach ANY event the team participates in. WTF?

I remember that two on one play and when Mark didn’t pass there, I realized he was not passing at all. His only chance at an assist last night was via a pass to himself. Lino has great speed, energy, and effort, clearly those are strengths for him. He creates turnovers on his own in the backcourt at times due to that effort and energy. BUT, he also feels like is playing in a Rec league game as soon as he gets the ball in his hands. No thoughts of a pass, he drives to hoop a ton but doesn’t dish to a teammate or kick it out to a teammate on the outside. Lino scores on some of those drives but how many did he chuck up this year that didn’t even hit rim??? Regardless of the defense that meets him inside, Lino is putting it up as it’s Rec league time. Maybe last night he was in overdrive for his last hurrah of tape for wherever he is landing next year. Lino needs to vastly improve his court vision, reading the defense and awareness of his teammates. Also needs to improve from three. A lot of potential with him, but has issues he needs to improve at the same time. I would take him back here for sure but only for the right price, I would not overpay for him. Everything we hear is he’s gone anyway so the point is likely moot.

Nobody on the team made any type of case to be kept in a meaningful role

the 3-5 guys I would even consider would be 6th 7th man at best (Francis) and most are deep rotation guys

I’m intrigued by powers and mark simply because of age but you’d have to convince them to be okay playing a lot less next year and I’m positive mark will not do that powers may have enough character and foresight to see that as a good move for him

Buchanan is a 9th man on a good team

the rest can go
