Crazy haha. South jersey public ball is just as bad as college when it comes to portal stuff
I'm sure you're right in general. However, I must tip my cap to Washington Township (where I live when not in Atlantic City) and Kingsway High Schools, which are lucky enough to have solid feeder programs in most sports and manage to succeed while being homegrown at the same time. I'm sure there are others in South Jersey.

Township just won G5 in football (beating Kingsway in the state semifinals), going undefeated with a group of kids who played together since they were knee-high. The team will take a step back next season, of course, but that's always going to happen occasionally with clean public programs...

Quote of the day lol Thanks for the laugh. I'm rooting for them, T.H. seems like a good dude and does a lot for the student athletes. I'm sure he learned a better approach and will be more hands w/ the kids so another STA doesn't happen. Issue I could see with Hudson Catholic is they're in the bottom end of facilities and the school is worse off financially than STA. Jerry Smith will do Jerry Smith things and bring in whomever regardless of if the student-athletes can afford private school or behavior issues etc etc, didn't work at St. Joes or STA...and HC needs all the tuition they can get lol I really wanted to see that week 0 game with Hudson vs STA but STA backed out smh.
Hudson just scheduled Irvington for that Week 0 game. Should be a great matchup. Too bad no one was around from when the last time they met as Irvington won on a TD off a fake FG in OT.

Disappointed those cowards at STA dropped HC for week 0. That place is a mess (STA).
On the other side of the coin, at least the Hudson program is in better shape than it was last year. Esp since the end of the 25 season when the program was a flushed toilet. Let’s see if Holman and staff can take them to at least where they were after the 21/22 seasons.

He’s a good coach - will bring stability to the program and elevate it. I’m curious if they’ll be as successful recruiting Newark/Essex county…Shabazz is getting kids to stay home and Lata is making a push into the area.

Be careful with that statement. Some here will say that this is a good thing that these kids are not going to Prep, Seton Hall, Joes, and other NP schools. Others will say that it’s not fair that he can get kids from all over Newark even though Newark kids can go to any school they choose.

Others will also say that Shabazz has kids from every city but won’t give out details or proof of this.

***And if this was true, report them. But they won’t and just complain here.

It's a great thing that Newark kids stay home and attend their public school. People were complaining about how Shabazz was classified as a Group 1 then 2, now 3 due to the unique zoning set up Newark Board of Ed. Lets be honest, NUMEROUS schools have brought in kids from OOD, Knowshon was zoned in Middletown North but went to South as an example...it seems today it's been pretty out on the open with kids in Belville posting about choosing Shabazz, PTech kids posting they're transferring there etc etc. The year Smoke left Irvington they had a few Newark kids that are currently playing for Texas, Syracuse, and a few other D1 programs (they only went like 6-5 that season idk how). It's gotten to the point where the state is turning a blind eye to all this. You'd think it'd be easy with how much these kids post on social media to catch/discipline programs.

Immaculata is making a push into Newark? If they kept kids at home from Somerset, parts of Middlesex, Hunterdon and Union Counties they would be a dynasty. Make headway into Plainfield, Piscataway, Franklin alone could field a competitive team.

Saw on instagram they got two kids from barringer or one of those schools. STA has been able to get Plainfield/PWay/Franklin kids pretty consistently. Not sure what school is closer. STA is apparently done giving out free rides and Lata looks like they’re going the
Carte blanche approach with scholarships/tuition.

Amazing how things change. Immaculata the nuns wouldn’t allow may from New Brunswick or Plainfield into the school. Now they’re pulling from Newark. STA is closer to Plainfield. But Immaculata is closer to the others. STA always pulled well from Plainfield and pway. Most of the Franklin kids if they were going parochial went to Immaculata or St. Peter’s when it was open. Now Notre Dame gets a fair amount.
