Their coach is retiring after this game I believe so they'll be ready. They can also shoot the three. I think many of our players will be more interested in showcasing for their next team - not sure I like our chances.

Nobody cares if you don't like Carino, so save it. . . .

he let them design the first full practice.

The players picked a one-on-one full-court drill, a box-out drill, some shooting breakout sessions, and full-court five-on-five
.

Because we need to box out and rebound,” freshman point guard Lino Mark said. “That’s how you win games.

On the Nebraska example--words are cheap, action is not- does not "sound" like Lino is leaving, but time will tell:

If they can do that, why can’t we?” Mark said.

Whether RU players are showcasing their talent or getting ready to continue their Rutgers days , this team has shown enough improvement late in the season that they can't be counted out, even if he opponent's HC's retiring gives them extra incentive to win..

As of Friday freshman forward Denis Badalau, a deep reserve, had not made it back from a spring break trip home to Romania.
He's stuck in a TSA line at LaGuardia.

Runs the court like he has a load in his shorts. Pike's approach, which is about team and commitment, is a hard sell for adult Euro pros...and many other players who put themselves first.
Illinois has a bunch of Europeans who hustle, rebound, and shoot the lights out. They seem to play awfully well together. Recruiting the right European players is challenging and unlike Illinois, we really don’t have anyone on staff or any key connections to recruit there effectively, Maybe if Rutgers sent Richie on a long European trip he could come back with worthwhile intel on who to recruit there, but my guess is that isn’t happening.

Say what you will about how meaningless the Crown games are for fans and program perception (very meaningless) but it seems to me this tournament style will eventually put the traditional NIT out of business.

Why would any kid prefer to participate in the traditional NIT if they have an alternative opportunity to compete in the Crown for some money and an all expense paid trip to Vegas? Seems to me the predictive future of consolation tournaments will be multiple small 4-8 team brackets hosted at desirable locations with bowl style tie ins and varying NIL pay out rates.

No downside I guess. But let's not act like most people care. Or are even aware

The downside is no additional home games, less fan attendance/opportunity, access and fewer potential games.

How many schools declined this (surely team decisions).

The players would probably opt for the NIT.
