Correct, batters don’t know what a strike is which has forced batters to swing at stuff out of the zone, imo. BCs contact found holes, the Heels contact found outs. The home plate ump has been terrible - so incredibly inconsistent on balls and strikes

The ball/strike calls tonight have not been good or consistent. You can’t argue that. We’ve k’d 3 times on stuff out of the zone. Walked in a run on a middle-middle fastball. Our batting average on balls in plays has been higher than theirs tonight. The difference is strikeouts and advancing runners.
Was gonna comment on the strikeouts. 12 to 5. We just had a hard time with pitch recognition. We chased so many balls out of the strike zone bc we were fooled completely on the type of pitch. I’m no mlb player, but if I can detect differences in their delivery, so should our hitters. Our batting average on balls in plays has been higher than theirs tonight. We didn’t play well, that’s not negotiable. But, the inconsistency behind the plate leads to a ton of tense ABs and wishing for strike calls on the mound. Leads to not being able to get comfortable in the box or on the rubber. We helped BC a ton tonight, they didn’t beat their selves and we did. But, to just write of the calls from behind the plate is asinine.
the strike zone is the strike zone. You shouldn’t “swing if it’s close” or have worry about a missed call on a 3-0 pitch. That’s the point, and that’s why the head coach was pissed and why everyone on here is bitching.
we got beat, didn’t have a good approach at the plate, too many walks and HBPs, a bad error in the 9th to open it up. All of that can be true, and still say the guy behind the plate was less than competent at his only job.
He hit two pretty well tonight, both started with a good approach. But just didn’t fall it happens. But, we need him to be better. Wouldn’t hurt to drop him a little on the line up card to take some pressure off.Idk what Gavin’s gotta do, but something needs to change
I thought he provided a fair and balanced broadcast. We almost seem disinterested tonight. And this nasal sounding yankee dude calling the game is getting on my nerves.
