Can’t K there, that whole AB went down hill when he almost swung on 3-0. Have to have the confidence in your teammates to pass the buck to them.
Just a frustrating night for the guys.

Just not our night. Check swing on a 3-0 pitch with men on 1st and 2nd was strange. Wound up striking out on a pretty good AB. Just can’t get a hit with men on base tonight.

5 or 6 straight fastballs in or very near the strike zone in a row after 3-0… and can’t get one in play? Just really poor hitting. No way around it.

Forbes just said he likes a green light in 3-0. Your best power hitter up and wasn’t sitting fastball. Then wasn’t 3-1, or 3-2. Ugh.

The next two days are going to tell us a lot. Yes we’re about to be 9-4 in the league but frankly that’s closer to 6-7 than it is 10-3 as we’ve pulled 3 games out when trailing in the 8th or later. You don’t apologize for wins but you can’t count on that forever.

Playing this series Thursday-Saturday was a perfect storm of bad luck with the doubleheader last Saturday and the long game Tuesday. And BC makes you play a disciplined, mistake-free brand of baseball and we didn’t do it tonight.

Correct, batters don’t know what a strike is which has forced batters to swing at stuff out of the zone, imo. BCs contact found holes, the Heels contact found outs.

Our batting average on balls in plays has been higher than theirs tonight. The difference is strikeouts and advancing runners.

gross all around. Absolute no show from the majority of the lineup. Output has been great lately but we’re nowhere near good enough 1 through 9 to approach the box the way we did tonight.

Wake up and compete tomorrow

The ball/strike calls tonight have not been good or consistent. You can’t argue that. We’ve k’d 3 times on stuff out of the zone. Walked in a run on a middle-middle fastball.

We didn’t play well, that’s not negotiable. But, the inconsistency behind the plate leads to a ton of tense ABs and wishing for strike calls on the mound. Leads to not being able to get comfortable in the box or on the rubber. We helped BC a ton tonight, they didn’t beat their selves and we did. But, to just write of the calls from behind the plate is asinine.

the strike zone is the strike zone. You shouldn’t “swing if it’s close” or have worry about a missed call on a 3-0 pitch. That’s the point, and that’s why the head coach was pissed and why everyone on here is bitching.

we got beat, didn’t have a good approach at the plate, too many walks and HBPs, a bad error in the 9th to open it up. All of that can be true, and still say the guy behind the plate was less than competent at his only job.

Was gonna comment on the strikeouts. 12 to 5. We just had a hard time with pitch recognition. We chased so many balls out of the strike zone bc we were fooled completely on the type of pitch. I’m no mlb player, but if I can detect differences in their delivery, so should our hitters.

and with our supposed best veteran hitter in a huge slump, this offense is just not ready for the big time yet.

I was responding to the part about BC’s balls fell and ours didn’t. That wasn’t really true.
