No 36 Rutgers Gymnastics will take on No. 31 Central Michigan in the first round of the NCAA Lexington Regional today at 2:00 pm ET. The meet will stream live on ESPN+.

The winner will then participate in the regional semifinal quad against #1 Oklahoma, #16 Kentucky, and #18 Ohio State on Friday night at 7:00 pm ET. The top two teams from that quad will advance to the regional final on Sunday.

Gabrielle Dildy (All-Around) and Emily Leese (Vault, Floor) both qualified as individuals, meaning they will compete Friday night regardless of team performance.

Let’s go, ladies!

Rutgers is leading by .225 through two rotations (97.925 to 97.700) bars and vault complete.

Rutgers still has floor and beam coming up.

Rutgers stellar on the floor (49.275) and now leads by .800 (147.200 to 146.400).

Barring a complete collapse on the beam, Rutgers should take this meet. However, beam is our weakest event, so still have to be worried.

We probably don’t have much chance to finish top 2 tonight, as the three other teams are all top 20 — including #1 Oklahoma — and they all regularly score higher than 197.000, whereas we only exceeded 196.000 three times. Our highest score is basically the AVERAGE of these other squads.

Regardless, it should be a great experience for our team, and I hope they can at least make it interesting. Plus, Dildy and Leese will be competing in individual events.

Rutgers with a solid effort on bars, but Ohio State killed it on vault and edged ahead of Rutgers into 2nd place after three rotations.

Oklahoma 148.400

OSU 147.700

Rutgers 147.500

Kentucky 147.025

Rutgers will have to win this on beam (our weakest event). OSU will be on bars.

OSU holds the second spot and moves into the regional final along with Oklahoma. Rutgers finished third, ahead of Kentucky. Final scores:

Oklahoma 197.875

Ohio State 196.550

Rutgers 196.300

Kentucky 196.175

We were so close, but three poor scores on beam — including a fall from Rachael Riley, one of our best beam performers — sunk us.
