OK I'll admit I tear up every time I watch one of these .
6 minutes in they were cruising at 10,000 mph.

At this point are the astronauts really doing "work" that couldn't be done from mission control ?
Great launch and everything going great so far. Lots left to do yet though.
I was talking to my 88 year old Uncle during the launch. He was, for 15 years, the head of the Safety team for the post-Challenger shuttle program/International Space Station at the Johnson Space Center. While he was watching it light up and go, he told me that watching ‘a bird light up’, never fails to impress.
Maybe not, but there are probably a lot of things they need to do so they've got it down if mission control isn't readily available.

This is a good thing and something the United States really needed. The President even posted something on Truth Social that most everyone can get behind.
If Artemis 2 fails we should just ride this guys dick to space. Holy shiit look at those ears!

I couldn’t get a cell signal in North Alabama today. I have zero doubt about our technical abilities on the dark side of the moon.
Before Covid, I believed Trump lost in 2020. After Covid, I don’t even believe we went to the moon.

Probably but I’m assuming having experienced space travelers and the feedback and lessons learned from that helps in future space travel.

This perfectly sums up why I really don't blame folks for believing crazy **** about the government.
They have proven they will lie about anything and are incredibly incompetent and corrupt. It seems more crazy to believe they're ever telling the whole truth than to believe in conspiracies. And it's the fault of the people in power, not the people who don't believe them.

After watching the post launch press conference, I feel more equipped to answer this.
It's pretty obvious they have a ton to do over the first 24 hours after launch and there's no way much of it could be done from earth.
Maybe someday, but not today.
50 years ago, 25 years ago, NASA operated with higher risk factors for the loss of human life. Much less risk today, especially with the advances made by both NASA and SpaceX.
