I was talking to my 88 year old Uncle during the launch. He was, for 15 years, the head of the Safety team for the post-Challenger shuttle program/International Space Station at the Johnson Space Center. While he was watching it light up and go, he told me that watching ‘a bird light up’, never fails to impress.

Saw the Apollo 16 launch as a kid. It was pretty amazing

We got there and back with 1960's alien technology. This should be a cake. The next trip will have the lunar lander up in orbit waiting to see it they can joined with it and in 2028 they are landing.

They're up there. You conspiracy nuts are pathetic.

The fake **** starts when they supposedly leave low earth orbit and head to the moon. Yeah, like that's happening.
I couldn’t get a cell signal in North Alabama today. I have zero doubt about our technical abilities on the dark side of the moon.

Before Covid, I believed Trump lost in 2020. After Covid, I don’t even believe we went to the moon.

This perfectly sums up why I really don't blame folks for believing crazy **** about the government.

They have proven they will lie about anything and are incredibly incompetent and corrupt. It seems more crazy to believe they're ever telling the whole truth than to believe in conspiracies. And it's the fault of the people in power, not the people who don't believe them.

At this point are the astronauts really doing "work" that couldn't be done from mission control ?

After watching the post launch press conference, I feel more equipped to answer this.

It's pretty obvious they have a ton to do over the first 24 hours after launch and there's no way much of it could be done from earth.

Maybe someday, but not today.

50 years ago, 25 years ago, NASA operated with higher risk factors for the loss of human life. Much less risk today, especially with the advances made by both NASA and SpaceX.

Moon landing sites of Apollo 11 and 12 were photographed recently by Chandrayaan 2 orbiter from India.

China plans to land on the moon with humans by 2030. As you can imagine, their value of human life isn't that high. Very high national pride which is the main reason they want it to succeed sooner than America.

The mission manager is an MSU Diamond dog, Matt Ramsey. Hail State! 🚀⚾️
Former Mississippi State University baseball pitcher and alumnus
Matthew Ramsey serves as the NASA mission manager for Artemis II, the first crewed mission to the Moon under the Artemis program. He oversees mission preparedness, hardware certification, and crew safety, and acts as the deputy chair for the Mission Management Team during flight.

This is a good sales pitch for capitalism vs China's history and their semi capitalistic society of today.

Strong sense of national pride
Lots of resources
Extremely smart population (smarter than the USA as a whole)

But they can't beat us.
