This is why the 22 million figure doesn't make sense. If jq was one of the highest at 2...20 million amongst the other 11 would put them all in the highest paid
That graphic doesn’t mean anything, I’d love to know where they got the numbers. Dybantsa was rumored to get over 6 million from multiple people before the year started. I can also see Boozer getting way more than 2M. Toppin signed for 4M I believe. TT signed him to a huge offer to keep him there quick after last season.

So to all those still shooting down the 22 million number it was widely reported and even our own coach was bragging about it.

A quick Google search of JT Toppin will bring up this deal as well. It was originally reported by Natt Norelander before the season as well. These numbers are way off.

Plus think about this if Yaxel is being even halfway truthful about our offer, let’s say we started at 4M which is reasonable for a guy of his stature in the portal and said we will go to 6M, why would he sign for only 2M at Michigan? I keep hearing about all their money. That’s a huge pay cut for him. No matter how much he liked the coach better that doesn’t make sense.

I say it every time these lists come up that they’re worthless, but since this has once again turned into using this to “prove” that we couldn’t have possibly spent $22 million, it’s worth repeating. This is just someone’s (in this case unsourced at that) estimate of what these guys would be worth in endorsements, which isn’t always related to how much a booster is willing to pay them to play for their favorite team.

For a quick and obvious example, it was reported by legitimate sources that Dybansta got $7 million to sign with BYU, which is approaching double what this list says. If he got that much more, I’d be willing to bet that a lot of other guys around the country including some of ours actually received a considerable amount more than is claimed by “Greatest Highlights”.

Only a very few people actually know the real numbers and they don’t want us to know. Everyone just guessing educated or not. These schools don’t want the real payroll numbers verified and cross checked against their competitors.

"I can also see Boozer getting way more than $2M"....meaning you have zero proof, just conjecture to fit your narrative. So you "can see" Boozer getting $2M, but you must also be willing to see everyone that played minutes on our team getting $2M each. $2M X 11 players is $22M my man. We have 11 players making Boozer money....just stop ot LMAO

Based on the market value of players of his caliber yes I can easily see it. Obviously I don’t have his contract. You can take up issue with the 22M dollars from your coach. He and the university peddled it around before the season went to ****. Not my problem and not my number that I made up.

NIL is a black hole that cannot be verified. I never believed the 22M but that is just an opinion. It would have been advantageous for UK to deny its accuracy but didn’t so there’s that. It should be remembered that transparency is not a strong suit of UK again when it would be to their advantage. I also wondered if the 22M included all the player incomes from the House settlement.

Pope actually denied the $22 million but would not confirm the actual amount which is not uncommon to do since no schools have to report NIL values. Some reports indicate that the $22 million figure was actually a compilation of various, unverified sources rather than an official number.
