Game 1 is at 8pm on Thursday (schedule moved up one day so that we don’t play on Easter Sunday). Cards are currently tied for 9th in the ACC standings, and Duke is just behind in a tie for 11th.

With the new format of the ACC tourney (all 16 teams invited, single elimination, with the top 4 getting double byes and teams 5-8 getting single byes), getting into the top 4 is a big deal. We are currently 3 games back of 4th place Boston College (8-4).

Our game is on the ACC Network tonight. Ethan Eberle gets the start - gives up a two out double, but game is still scoreless through 1 inning.

Eberle has some awesome stuff tonight - 11 of the 12 outs he’s recorded have been strikeouts. Also no walks. But Duke has gotten 5 hits and two hit batsmen, which they’ve turned into 3 runs. Cards’ offense has been quiet so far - just 2 hits, and the only time they threatened was the first - had bases loaded with just one out but couldn’t score.

Cards trail 4-1 in the bottom of the 6th. Eberle now replaced by Schweitzer. 15 strikeouts for Eberle, just one off of Reid Detmers’ record.

Duke wins 6-3. Cards just could not get the offense going tonight, and the 3 errors definitely didn’t help. Wasted a good pitching performance by Eberle. Kind of rude that the wind blows out only during home half innings! We’d win a lot more of our home games if we could get that to work at Patterson.

Duke leads 2-1 through 4 innings. Two really good pitchers going in this one in Duke’s Weaver and UofL’s Danilowicz. Duke actually had the bases loaded with no out, but Danilowicz caught a line drive coming right at his head and then doubled up the runner at third, then got out of the inning with a ground ball out to 3rd base.

Bayram Hot with a 2 run homer and Griffin Crain with an RBI infield single, gives the Cards the lead 4-2 in the 6th!

UGH! Duke scores 4 runs with 2 outs to take the lead again 6-4. Danilowicz left with 2 outs and the bases loaded … deserved a better outcome tonight!

Yes … bullpen just cannot hold a lead. What a waste of a great hitting lineup.

Duke takes game two 10-8. Will go for the sweep tomorrow at noon.

Cards win 9-4. Good pitching performances all around, but Aaron England and Brandon Shannon with 3 scoreless innings shut the door on the Devils today.

Zion Rose went 2-4 and saw his batting average go down(!) to .553. He’s ridiculously good when he’s healthy.
