I might be the oldest guy on SPS. I am bucket list traveling in April on a train trip from Portland to Chicago. Four more states and a trip to Wrigley Field are the goal. That will make 48 states. I did the Master’s and the Ryder Cup last year. What does the Pack think about the ultimate Bucket List goals? Where are you going or doing?

I've checked a lot of things off my bucket list but here's a few things I'd still like to do....

Go to the Kentucky Derby
Get a pilots license
See the running of the bulls
Golf at Pebble Beach
Balloon festival in Albuquerque
Baseball game at Wrigley or Fenway
Concert at Red rocks
Rock n roll hall of fame
Angola prison rodeo
Go to one of those lumberjack competitions you see on tv
Oktober fest in Munich

There's a lot of fish I've caught but I'm still chasing a tarpon, wahoo, and roosterfish.

I don’t have a bucket list, but if I did a World Cup would be on it. Crossing that off this summer (whatever two random countries I can get the cheapest tickets to)
Probably a Super Bowl.
I would want to see State play at every SEC school (I think I lack 6).
I want to see the Holy Lands.

Go to all 63 national parks. (64 if you're one of those folks that include the Natchez Trace.**) I've already hit several that aren't so easy to get to - like the 2 in Hawaii, the 4 in south Florida / Virgin Islands as well as some of the most famous like Yellowstone, Sequoia and Yosemite. The one in Samoa and 8 in Alaska will likely have to wait until I retire.

I really want to do that train trip you have. Tried to talk my wife into it 17 years ago and she didnt think much of it, but has since come around and claims it is her idea now.

Running of the Bulls is some of the most fun I’ve ever had. We did it 2 years ago when we di Portugal and Spain for a month. I’d go back every single year if that was possible.

Going to see ACDC in Atlanta in August. Probably the last band on my bucket list.

I want to go to all the MLB parks. I did a tour of Fenway but want to go back for a game. Also did a Raptors game in the dome so want to go back for a Toronto game. Watched a game in Atlanta (all 3 parks), St Louis, Tampa Bay, Miami, Texas Rangers (previous park).

Would love to see a round of the Masters, Kentucky Derby, Daytona 500, an F1 race, Tennis - US Open and possibly Wimbledon. Stanley Cup and Superbowl would be fantastic but not sure I would spend that kind of money. I dropped almost $1k a ticket for 2021 World Series in Atlanta for nose bleeds.

I’ve been doing a half *** baseball stadium tour the last few years. Knocked out DC, Philadelphia, Yankee stadium, Baltimore, Houston, and Globe Life so far. Hitting Citi Field and Pittsburgh this August.

Most of mine are boat/water related, but in no particular order:

- Spend a few months bouncing around the bahamas by boat.
- Week or two week Bareboat Charter in the BVI
- Trip up and down the Dalmatian Coast
- Extended trip to Thailand
- Summer/Fall just tooling down and then up the Florida coast line. Maybe time it more spring summer so we can do the intracoastal up the atlantic. Not sure I want to do the interior of the great loop, but I think the eastern seaboard would be cool.
- Spain/Portugal for a long trip
- RV'ing around the US, particularly the west and national parks (I said no particular order, but I guess this would be last and realistically not going to happen because it's lower on the priority list).

Probably not going to get to most of these unless I can get a remote job at some point. Spain or Portugal, or Dalmation coast or BVI charter will probably be next just because I can do one of those in an 8 day trip, even if not quite the way I want. The bahamas and Florida/Atlantic Seaboard will probably be a package deal if it ever happens. Once you're committed to the boat, an extra year's of depreciation while you use it isn't that significant in comparison. But gotta be able to do it while young enough to enjoy it.

Nice. I am hoping to go to the Minnesota game this year and tack on a Twins game that weekend.
I’ve tossed around the idea of Minnesota amongst our group. They do a Prince promo night every year. Consensus amongst the group is to try to go then. Same goes for Seattle and Pearl Jam night. During the Globe Life-Houston trip we stopped at SRV’s grave site on the way out of Dallas. IMG_4055.jpeg

I have thought about a fantasy baseball camp... I think the Yankees would be the best one.

I checked off the weather related events with experiencing a blizzard, tornado, monster hail, water spout, and hurricane (most several times). I also experienced a decent sized earthquake. That one was a real bonus from my list. Recently saw the northern lights on a hunting trip.

From my list for overseas I have been fortunate to go to: Vatican and museums, Venice, London, Ireland (Cliffs of Moher were awesome), Scotland, and Spain. I went to Wimbledon, Tour de France, and The Open. Played golf at St. Andrews. Went to Stonehenge, Oxford, and Cambridge. I badly want to go to Switzerland in the summer time. It’s a huge item on my list.

For the US you might add: Fat Tuesday on St. Charles, Yellowstone, a concert at the Grand Ole Opry, the aquarium in Atlanta is #1 in the US and #6 in the world (totally worth it), the San Diego Zoo, and Sequoia National Park (I need to do this). I have a ton of hunting bucket list items to check off of my list.IMG_0755.jpeg

I've never done Amtrack but I did an overnight train trip in Canada a few years ago. I'd say it's one of those got the tshirt, don't ever have to do it again things. We had a private cabin with a toilet room but no shower. That was down the hall by reservation. The food was great and as we went from Vancouver to Jasper, the scenery was top notch. It was enjoyable, but not something I would ever go out of my way to do. Intercity train travel in Europe for short trips is fantastic. Hard to beat city center to city center trips.

At some point, I'd really like to see a blue whale up (relatively) close. And Go to Redwoods/Sequoia National parks.
Sequoia is great. So close to Yosemite as well. I suggest going to Sequoia first. If you go to Yosemite first, Sequoia will be a letdown. Not because Sequoia is not impressive. It's very impressive! But Yosemite is sooo awesome! I hope to hit Redwoods and some other NP's in the Northwest within the next couple of years. I was surprised at the boundaries of Redwoods NP. It consists of several separate smallish forest chucks strung out along the coast and not just one large forest.

We are past 70 now and have already knocked out a lot of our bucket list stuff, but we still want to see the northern lights and are considering a trip to Iceland. Most of my stuff centered around various hunting trips and I have accomplished all of my goals, except for a Dall Sheep. I have a couple more trips booked for the future and will probably continue to make hunts for as long as it’s physically possible, but I am way too old for the sheep hunt.

As a huge fan of the movie Lonesome Dove, I always wanted to go on a real cattle drive. There are places that you can still do that but I don’t think my knees and hips could handle that much time on a horse anymore. So unfortunately I think I will give up on that one and just continue to watch the movie a couple of times a year.

One of my simpler goals that might give some of you older TV western fans a laugh was to go to Dodge City, KS. And drink a beer in the Long branch Saloon. Got to check that one off about 3 years ago.
