Uhh…3 of those movies are NOT overrated, lol. They are universally loathed. Did you understand the premise of the thread??
Unless he considers them SO bad that even being loathed leaves them as overrated?

Agree, but dumb and dumber is one of my favorite. Only Jim C. movie I have enjoyed.Any and every Jim Carrey movie. I don't find him funny at all-nor do I care for his serious roles.
Napoleon Dynamite. Not sure if it counts, but it's a movie with a big cult following. I've tried to watch it but can't finish it. Terrible movie.
I did think Step Brothers was hilarious. A lot of his movies didn’t age well because people realized he was the same character in every one of them. Weren’t necessarily terrible when released early on…but agree. I have a hard time with any of them not besides Elf & Step Brothers.Anything with Will Ferrell besides Elf
But when you woke up the next day, did you go see the film again?Groundhog Day was horrendous! Walked out the theater.
I could relate to the sleepwalking scene.I did think Step Brothers was hilarious. A lot of his movies didn’t age well because people realized he was the same character in every one of them. Weren’t necessarily terrible when released early on…but agree. I have a hard time with any of them not besides Elf & Step Brothers.
He was one of the most brilliant people to ever work in the entertainment industry, a true genius and innovator. And lots of times, those types of people have trouble being normal, especially around normal people. I think he had a particularly hard time "suffering fools", answering mundane questions, dealing with press, etc. He was obsessed with the art. I would guess he "had a touch of the 'tism", in the parlance of our times (Big Lebowski reference for the dullards who think that masterpiece is overrated). He was a moody grump when not performing, though. Depressive, I think.
The French seemed to agree with that take.He was one of the most brilliant people to ever work in the entertainment industry, a true genius and innovator.
Which might not be the best endorsement. The French seemed to agree with that take.
You mean like the popularity of David Hasselhoff as a singer in Germany?Which might not be the best endorsement.
Apt analogy. You mean like the popularity of David Hasselhoff as a singer in Germany?![]()
Right there with Oblivion.Tom cruise, Vanilla Sky. Absolute trash. His worst movie ever.
At least I have the excuse of saying that when I first saw and loved the Indiana Jones movies, I was in grade school.I've been peaking at the Indiana Jones movies on AMC that I once saw at the theater. Boy, was I easily impressed back then. What was once entertaining, upon further review, was nothing but a banal brand of sensory overload.
I believe you can derive some solace from that.At least I have the excuse of saying that when I first saw and loved the Indiana Jones movies, I was in grade school.
His best role was as Pepper Boy.Any Adam Sandler movie. Sandler can only play one character, the goofball doofus.
