I was happy with his first season BUT with the caveat that that would be his basement here. The team was quickly thrown together and he was still getting acclimated to the job so I could overlook the bad losses.

In year 2, he had a Ferrari. Compared to ‘96. And he took a major step backward and imo proved himself totally out of his depth in his role here. I just don’t think we can afford to move backwards, and that’s what we’re doing.
There is no coach alive that could keep up with that pace.
We had a top 3 SOS last year, won the most quad 1 games ever and got to a sweet 16. There litetally is no coach alive that can have a tenure here that would never dip below that.
Honestly, something happened with this team. Yeah, the injuries and JQ quitting, was bad enough, but this team had lockerroom issues sometime in November and never recovered from it. It explains a lot if I'm being honest. The weird lineups, the weird interviews, JQ opting out, Pope standing there quiet as a mouse as we were getting shredded. The team was broken. Hopefully that doesn't happen again.
Every coach deals with a team turmoil, I believe Pope just did.

we didnt give Pope a fair chance? Respectfully GFTO Kyjeff, we gave him 2 years and some like myself gave the NIL pot more money than we should have. year 3 better be elite or Pope can eff off
Yeah and year 1 was a success. That was a FF team before Butler and Robinson went down.

Pope had zero players in April, zero coaches, had some of the biggest wins we have seen in a while, wone more Q1 games than anyone ever has and got to a sweet 16 and you idiots are acting like he missed the f*ckin' tournament.

You have no idea what you're watching. He had a terrible season this year and you want him fired.

His teams quit last year too. So yes, he showed his hand.

His team last year didn’t play defense. So yes, he showed what he can do.

His players last year didn’t get better. So yes, he showed what he is.

Last year was a precursor for this year just like this year shows us next year.

Next year you will be saying no one could have predicted this. When almost everyone did.
Bunch of false statements. But believe whatever you want to believe. Nobody quit, except you.

No players got better? Stfu, Aberdeen, Oweh, Chandler, Moreno, Brea, and Amari Williams all got better and not just slightly.

Just because you say it, doesn't make it true.

And it’s fine to be on the other side of this, but don't freaking come at me because I don’t agree with you.

I guarantee you, anyone in here that has any level of support for Pope, has zero problem admitting Pope has many flaws.
That's the difference, you guys refuse to say a good word about the guy.
I don't care what anyone says, the job he did last year, was phenomenal. Still had some sh*t games in there, but he showed what he can do.
You can’t be “phenomenal“ and have a bunch of sh**t games too. And I don’t really see what he did to draw accolades. And if you want to be real, the roster construction, the ultimate responsibility of the head coach, was suspect at best. Pope has a LOT to prove starting today.

I agree. Who knew a UK coach would have an issue getting the top talent to come here. The question is why?
Honestly, Cal was having that problem too. He was getting the scraps that duke, KU and uNC didn't want.

I think Pope is probably being a little too honest with these kids, but that's just a guess.

I get it, his personality is cheeseball-ish, but there are plenty of coaches around the country that have no personality, but still get good recruits.

All the guys like Trilly and even the national guys have said he prefers Self and Kansas. Kentucky’s offer far exceeds them and they are even having a tough time getting the money to sign him period. If Self retires then he will choose us, that is the word. It’s a tough situation because we need him. Pope desperately needs him but do we want him if he really doesn’t want to be here, but has to in order to get his payday? Can you imagine if we lose a Nike signed player to an Adidas school where he announces at an Adidas event. It’s not 100% that he will announce there but he moved it back a week because the media set an arbitrary date and he didn’t like it but came out and moved it for whatever reason.

Who said KU is having a tough time getting the money to sign him?

This is easy for me to say, but Pope really needs to get a yes or no from Stokes by April 7th. I'm worried we're going to play this waiting game until the second week of the portal and miss out on some players on the very slight chance we get Stokes. Just tell him we moved on if we haven't heard by April 7th and go all in on the portal.

This looks a lot like what Duke used to do to Cal. Make him think he's getting a guy, only to pull the rug (no joke intended) out from under his feet.

I have no doubt Stokes has already committed, but he’s making Pope hold on until the 11th. Pope would have to wait 4 days after the portal opens to get an answer.

Nope, no way. I like your idea way better.
