Yeah and def not a great place to watch a game although the weather up there sucks so bad that they would never put up the attendance numbers in an outdoor facility that the do in the dome.

The Dome is a super fun place to play as an opponent. The fans are right on top of you. Maryland plays in a football stadium. It's not the end of the world. Michigan's stadium is very small. So is Ohio St. We are going to need something bigger. What if we had an indoor facility for games?
If you are talking indoor like PSU’s Holuba Hall that would be a disappointment unless it’s just for early season games.
Plenty of good lax venues at schools big and small = Freeman, Klockner, Ridley, Homewood. A packed house at Yurcak would be better than SHI.

A real indoor stadium would be very enticing. I'm sick of seeing half our games played with piles of snow on the ground.
Most indoor facilities like Holuba are like cavernous warehouses although Brown just built an absolute beauty thanks to a massive donation. IDK if I’d trade outdoor spring lax for indoor even with schedules starting in February (ridiculous).
if I were in charge I’d build a serious lax/soccer field house and dump money into Yurcak. I don’t know about UNC’s finances, but they are smart by directing some of their football money to lax and other sports. Hate to say it but RU (like UNC) will never win a football NC unless we are going to spend a TON of money and completely upgrade the facilities. You see what some of these big time schools have - athlete only private outdoor swimming pools, private chefs, movie theaters, barber shop, arcades, etc. It’s resort living. That’s never going to be RU so why pretend. Not to mention lax is largely concentrated in the northeast so there is a HUGE advantage.
Because then they would have an unfair advantage in life lol. Need one struggle to keep them at least semi humble.
Somehow the soccer powers convinced Bob Mulcahy that the lacrosse alum donated facility should be used for soccer only. The biggest issue is in Feb/March grass in the NE is near impossible to play on. You need field turf. Soccer doesn't want field turf. They should have been forced to build their own facility in that case. I'll say it again, like I did to Keli. The university owes lacrosse a stadium to play in.
We are at Michigan this weekend. This is an absolute MUST WIN / MUST CAN'T-LOSE game, as Michigan (3-7) is #47 in the RPI, so a loss to them would be an absolute resume crusher. We can lose to MD or PSU, but not Michigan.
An indoor facility or stadium built for spectators would likely cost a fortune and hard for RU to justify for lax. I smell a football angle here with lax team just one of many potential beneficiaries. If they went down this road I suspect it would be a true indoor football practice facility that has the capacity to host lax games. Money would be better spent on a true dedicated lax/soccer field house across from Yurcak - and/or take back Yurcak and find soccer a new place to play.
Yale's lacrosse facility is awesome. Tons of youth lacrosse tournaments played there during the summer (I love New Haven pizza during our visits). In the shadows of the Yale Bowl. Something like that at RU would catapult us. I can't envision better.
I can tell you the team isn't happy. That facility was made for the men's lacrosse team. Now it houses women's, men's, and women's and men's soccer. The Yale AD is a problem apparently. I wouldn't be shocked if their HC leaves at some point.

Yale’s facilities are probably the only thing keeping the program afloat. Yale AD is a train wreck makes it hard to recruit. Yale athletes also get zero preferential treatment on campus (some stuck sleeping in rooms the size of closets) and no tutoring support.
if RU commits to pursuing dedicated or even enhanced lax facilities will be a game changer.
We will have our own facility. Only question is what does it look like and when. SHI isn't the best facility for lacrosse but it's more than fine. Quint can go f himself. Franklin Field is by far the worst lacrosse experience and I've never heard him say anything about that. SHI is no different than a number of places when it comes to viewing. It's far better than Cornell as another example.

Unless things have changed none of the Ivies offer tutoring support.
None of the Ivies have athlete tutoring but have general tutoring for students. From what I hear about Yale = the tutoring department won’t even talk to an athlete until they score a C or worse on a major test. Well at that point the semester is probably already F’d.
FYI -- LSM Ryan Splaine was named Big Ten defensive player of the week.

From watching & not being a Doctor it looked to be either a broken collarbone or a dislocated shoulder, was in serious pain & needed help to get off field.
Yeah I saw him on the sidelines crying in pain and getting serious attention so it was definitely something that likely costs him some games or even the season.
As someone who just dislocated their shoulder, I can almost guarantee that’s what it was. Not uncommon in lacrosse. Or skiing in my case. Extraordinarily painful. Good news he’s young. I’m sure they got it back in place quickly. Hope for no ligament tears at that point.

Loved watching RU football play them in the dome...especially more recently....
It's been a long time, but I think that would be the same standard for all students and not just athletes. That is if tutoring is offered to anyone. I don't think it's universal throughout the league.
I can't say this was league wide, but at least 1 school had a sophomore hurdle. After you're 2nd year your GPA had to be above a 2.5 or you might be be asked to leave. I APed my way out of freshman English but a lot of people who didn't got a real wake up call. And of course there were some who majored in fraternities got caught.
