If Trent Noah decides to leave, would we be interested in Jake Feldhaus ?

Add a direction to the state name on the jersey - Eastern, Northern, or maybe Western Kentucky- and you are being more realistic. Replacing Trent Noah with a poor man's Trent Noah, especially the son of a program legend as one of the Unforgettables, is probably just asking for headaches.

Is that sarcasm? Please tell me that is sarcasm.
Reed Sheppard was a white kid from Kentucky.
Reed Sheppard got drafted 3rd.
White kid from Kentucky will get drafted 3rd.

I can't tell if some people on this board are playing around / having fun, or if this is actually the way their brain processes logic.

Reed was an anomaly
Not many like him
Moreno and Jasper are ky kids and they aren't game changers

I’m a firm believer that guys like him and Noah are better served to do like Reeds cousin at North Laurel and go to a small place, learn to play college basketball and develop their game .

We just can’t afford to play them enough for them to develop here .

If they become good enough, then maybe there can be a role at Kentucky.

Watched both of them play quite a bit. Noah is the better shooter even though he had a sophomore super slump. Noah would light up the arena in the 13th region for an easy 30 while a freshman. It’s hard to be a KY boy and know you have like a chance or two to make a shot per game and if you don’t, you’re getting the hook. Jake is the better all around player and more athletic.

Heck yes - should be interested anyway.
Kentucky players are as good as any in the USA.
REED SHEPARD
I sense sarcasm here but there are three issues. 1)- Noah slid off the radar this year in potential and he made some pretty stupid comments whether he was joking or not. He’d be best to transfer. 2)- The Feldhaus family are tremendous athletes but this kid just doesn’t seem to have D-1 talent. Now golf, on the other hand seems to be his strongest game. I wish him all the best wherever he goes. 3)- I hate to even hear the Sheppard name. Jeff’s jumped off the UK train and Reed relates more to CCC and Arkansas than to UK so he should be left out of the whole conversation.

How has Jeff jumped off the UK train?

No. Noah isn’t good enough to play here either but pope got desperate and wanted fans to not hate him.

Perfectly ridiculous to not want Deron Feldhaus's son here.

Now whether he's a gametime player or a practice player, that's another story. And we should be very up front with him about his chances of getting anything but mop up minutes, of course, assuming we recruit a roster this year that warrants that.

But to deny Deron Feldhaus's son the opportunity to wear that jersey even if he has to be content with mop-up minutes to do it?

Man, that's some kind of deep spiritual crime. May God have mercy on your souls.

Did Noah regress or is it just me? He played often his freshman season because he had to. But I didn’t feel like he made any noise when he got in this year

Yes.
Some ask "why", I say "why not".

Noah is better, and I would like to keep him. Is he likely to be a rotational (top 8-9) player next year, probably not. But he's good enough that if in a pinch (injuries, fouls, etc...) that I'd be comfortable with him in the game. And I still think by SR year, he could be a contributor (top 8-9 guy).
You are NOT going to get guys better than Noah to agree to be 11th-12th-13th man on the roster. And it would be difficult to get guys better than Feldhaus to be that, without paying them much more than they are worth. Good players want to play (in games), Duh! This is not 1975 or even 1995 where players come thinking "I think I'm good enough, and by my JR or SR year I think I can see some court time.". Most of today's athlete (society) is not that patient.

No, we should not allocate some of our NIL budget for Feldhaus. Maybe some small (token) amount (e.g. $50k), or maybe he can workout his own deal with a local place. I wouldn't expect Noah to get much more than that, maybe $100-200k, not enough to impact our budget. But we need more than 8-10 players. Surely y'all have learned that after the injuries the past 2 years. Potter fits in this same category.

Noah as a FR: 7.4mpg, 12-36 (33%) from 3, 11-15 on 2's, 4 STOCKs vs 9 TOs. His per30min stats were 7.2 pts, 5.2 reb, 1.1 ast.
Noah as a Soph: 8.2mpg, 17-51 (33%) from 3, 5-11 on 2's, 15 STOCKs vs 8 TOs. His per30min stats were 8.4 pts, 6.5 reb, 1.4 ast.
So the stats show very slight/modest improvement. Except the STOCKs vs TOs is a big improvement, going from a ratio of approx 0.5 to 2.0.
Not a stat, more of a personal observation, Noah seemed to also get a good number of deflections while in the game.

I thought about just letting that comment go but he was front and center with Pope in the beginning and now he seems to be out of the loop. I guess he spends a lot of time with his son but he was part of the buzz when it looked like Pope would help rebuild the program and now there’s crickets everywhere. I also sense he backed away some when Reed backed CCC and Arkansas. It just seems like the whole Pope / UK experiment has gone to hell.

I want the Kentucky boys. They’re an important part of the program and the history. Thy can help in a lot of ways. Noah, extremely smart player. Could help in a lot of ways as a junior and senior. But that’s IF YOU RECRUIT WELL ENOUGH TO HAVE THEM. You can’t supplement them for 5 star misses.

It’s not a one or the other this sht gets so irritating. Noah easily has good reasons to be here but not as someone who’s supplementing top talent.

I didn’t expect him to take a giant leap. He’s more of a traditional guy, I expected his sophomore slump year to be meh. I do think by mid junior to senior season he could fill a roll nicely but that’s if mark dosnt need him to be some kind of go to. Which looking at recruiting, might happen.

He was part of his former teammates that celebrated with Pope over the Tennessee win and even joined him in the post-game. Jeff's not on the coaching staff, nor does he have any relatives on the team. What is he supposed to do?

You guys keep talking like it’s the old era. Guys aren’t gonna come here anymore to just sit the bench for four years.

Again, Feldhaus’ kid is going to Belmont. He will contribute there.
