Asked Copilot for fun to evaluate our current roster. Results were:

⭐ Strengths​

  • Excellent forward depth (Dioubate, Garrison, Jelavić, Moreno)
  • Perimeter scoring upside (Chandler, Johnson)

I told it 13 players. And to use only players that have already announced they’re entering the portal and kentucky players that havent yet announced and still had eligibility left.

That was the only parameters.

it actually took several minutes for the result as well.

If it’s got a bunch of bullet points and uses 1000 words to say what could be said in 300, it’s AI.

AI also hallucinates. I asked Chat GPT for a list of college basketball coaches who coached the same school in more than one tenure.

It told me Rick Pitino coached at UL twice, including from 2023 to present. It told me Lon Kruger coached KSU twice. It said Larry Brown coached UCLA twice. None of these actually happened but the tool said it brimming with confidence.

I called it out and it was like “Yeah, you’re right.”

Critical thinking skills are already virtually nonexistent. Just wait until everyone just asks AI and takes whatever it spits back out as absolute gospel.

No knock on you OP but AI in general is awful. This is reminiscent of that thread where ChatGPT had UK winning it all.

Anyone using AI for anything serious, just be careful. Remember that you have a brain, and it's elite. So beautiful. Like a classy *** Maybach. AI is Poop's Ferrari.

Since you only asked about the roster, it didn't evaluate for the coaching. I wonder if Pitino could get St Johns as far as they got this year with that AI roster.

Why do you think anyone cares what the AI told you? If I wanted to know what some AI bot says, I'd ask the AI bot. All you're doing is telling us BOTH that you can't think for yourself AND that you have no idea how to interact with other humans.

So much "get off my lawn, you darn kids" in here. I do not interpret the OP (or my follow-up) as anyone saying our roster should be constructed by AI. Just a silly modern day exercise to elicit conversation while we wait for real news to break. Always the option to not read the thread!

Not a big AI fan either, but it is no worse than people posting X/Twitter links from randoms who barely know how to spell Kentucky yet act like they are breaking news about the Cats.

Any one of us could have done what these AI did. All AI does in this context is take data that people have stored and regroup it & summarize it.
And AI is only going to include players already in the Portal, or possibly rumored to be going into the portal.
I'm pretty sure over half of those who will be in the portal in 2-3 weeks, aren't in there now.

We laugh but the truth ain’t far off if the stories about his spreadsheets with potential portal guys are true. He’s just plugging in the list and making a list based on his certain criteria.
