If that was built in NJ I’d guesstimate itll be near 100 million.
Build it in Alpine (y)
The Tenafly High School district can afford it

Just to lay field turf with little else around it in NJ is $10MM. Politics aside, it's just incredibly expensive to build anything in blue states. Prevailing wage, unions, everyone has their hands out and mouths open. Look what Clemson built for their wlax team when they started their program. I believe it was $20MM. Would be $50-$70MM in NJ to build that.

Which is why I'm still so confused. It makes no sense. Schools and towns all over NJ paid far less. In 2024, just 15 mins up the road in Bridgewater they paid $875,000 to replace 2 turf fields.
because Rutgers is a "State School" which therefore brings in all the regulations that cost $$$$$$$$$$ Time and money to have all the departments review and stamp approval...

Was going to say, RU probably has some weird NJ classification that opens it up to numerous other governing bodies and agencies to grease. A tell tale sign of over governed states.

and likely has to go to some minority owned business which may or may not be the lowest bid

Let's see if this Plains, TX, indoor football field actually gets funded and built. Would not be surprising if Plains, TX, population 1,355 and shrinking, funds and builds an indoor practice facility before Greg's indoor football practice palace gets funded and built.

One report states the new Plains, TX, football field will be 50 yards long with one end zone.

Rutgers enjoys the benefit of being exempt from zoning and having its own building inspectors, which should make building on-campus less burdensome than what private developers face across the rest of the state.

Hopefully things have changed in New Jersey, but when I was doing development there in the early 2000s, many small town and rural building inspectors were functionally illiterate and lacked email so documents needed to be faxed or hand delivered.

The best New Jersey municipality in which to build is Jersey City, today's developers tell me, and the results can be seen in the city's skyline and population growth.
