Do we think she got rejected from a sorority? Also, it sounds like Oxford is a lot like Starkville to me. They're taking Ls from everywhere this week.

Newsflash. Oxford (population about 25,000) isn't like Tuscon (population about 500,000).

Yup. Oxford has done some things well (particularly marketing) and it's a nice small college town, but at the end of the day, that's all it is, much like Starkville. People coming to it not understanding that are going to be disappointed. And Starkville and Oxford are basically alone in that boat now. Auburn is almost three times the size even if you don't count opelika. Fayetteville, Tuscaloosa, Athens are all closer to 4 times the size and more. Those are still I guess towns and not cities, but there is still going to be things in a town/city of 100k that a town of 25k just can't support. Adding the student populations in obviously pushes all of those numbers up and lowers the multiplier some, but Oxford and Starkville really are in a class of their own as far as SEC towns, for better or worse.

People have come to expect more out of Oxford because of the PR. They leave under whelmed.
The one weekend I spent there, it was basically Starkville with slightly better restaurants (some vastly overrated and some really excellent) and a square.
They do a good job promoting it. They make Oxford sound like Orlando.
