Cats record next season

What do you expect the Cats to finish next year.

  • 0-10 wins (don't think Pope can coach or evaluate talent at all, just hate life)

    Votes: 2 1.0%
  • 10-15 wins (also don't think Pope can coach or evaluate talent, but any idiot could get UK 10 wins)

    Votes: 22 10.7%
  • 15-20 wins (just patiently waiting for the next coach, when's football season start)

    Votes: 76 37.1%
  • 20-25 wins (10-loss-Tubby and now 20-win-Pope, skeptical but willing to give him 1 more year)

    Votes: 63 30.7%
  • 25-30 wins (optimistic, but realistic, so many key injuries would have derailed any coach)

    Votes: 32 15.6%
  • 30-40 wins (Pope all the way, hey leave some of the Blue kool-aid for me)

    Votes: 10 4.9%

You don’t know that. It all depends on what coach would replace him, and if giving him this year results in a new AD with a goood connection with a slam dunk hire then it will be well worth it. It seems to me with this statement that you think our best chance of hiring a great coach would be with Barnhart making the hire before he leaves?
??? You could be perfectly right that an extra year is warranted for those reasons and that still doesn’t remotely tie the value of an extra year to a 20-25 win outcome specifically. Which was clearly the assertion OP made and was all I was responding to. Try to start paying attention.

When you said if we win 20-25 games next year than keeping Pope an extra year was not worth it, I was simply saying that it might be worth it in the sense that we would be better off because Barnhart would not be the AD and we could potentially have more time to evaluate and attract a great coach next year as opposed to within the next two weeks. In that sense, keeping Pope would be worth it as it set us up better for the future. Surely you can understand where I was coming from with that statement. Not sure the reason for the childish comment about paying attention at the end just thought we were having a pleasant talk on a Tuesday morning.

Lol narcissist. Pleasant talks on a Tuesday morning don’t start with you jumping on a true statement with “you don’t know that.” I made a simple and true statement and would have been fine with anybody actually just wanting to bounce around some other insights on it.

I put 10-15 wins, but wouldn’t be shocked if it’s 15-20. But he doesn’t have Oweh to bail him out this upcoming season. I think without Oweh, we probably only win 15-20 this past season

Probably right that without Oweh we win 15-20 this past season. But if you are saying without Oweh, wouldn't it be as reasonable if not more reasonable to say "no Oweh, but have Lowe and Williams all season and JQ last half of season" (or even just those first 2)?
Or you could say without Oweh and Aberdeen we might not have won 10 games this year.

It's too early to tell - but thus far nothing at all has happened to indicate things are going to get better next season. Certainly not Mark Popes history as a head coach.

So based on what we know today, we are absolutely looking at another 12-14 loss season. Something even bigger than landing Stokes will need to happen in order to change that.

Now let me say this clearly: if Pope loses out on Stokes it is an ominous sign. It's NOW or it's never for Pope.

I have no idea what you even mean but none the less, it will be double digit losses abs by that I don’t mean 10.

Delaying the inevitable. Another sweet 16 at best and 20. That’s the ceiling. We don’t even have enough players to field a team at this point

I would say, I'll be a Kentucky fan no matter what. And all you negative whiny f.ucks, can all go cry together, like a bunch of real fkn losers.

Wah Wah fkn Waaaah some more, sorry bastards.
If UK we were a threat to make a Final Four, there would be much less crying.

I'd really like to hear the logic of the 25-30 win crowd. Pope has won 25 games one time in his career and that was at Utah Valley State

We are the positive, TRUE, Kentucky fans, that's the only damn logic we fkn need. If that's all right with you.

What's your logic with bad mouthing Kentucky's coach and team, if your any kind of fan?

27-4

But are those true fans? I can't sit and bash a team I have loved for 60 years and think I am a fan. So I chose to support the team and Kentucky basketball, like a marriage, good or bad, until the end. OF MY TIME. AMEN 😊

I’m always going to cheer for and support the Cats, but if we don’t point out the obvious, apathy sets in.

Uh, don’t really understand this thread. How can anyone predict a record, when we have zero idea what the roster is going to look like?
We have a TON of data that tells us Pope's track record.

I say 22-11 with 1 win in each tournament.

I’d love to be optimistic. But we have asst. coaches bailing. We have no good news on the recruiting front. It’s hard to see anything but a failed season. I’d love for him to prove me wrong.

I’ll say this again, Pope’s first two years here, were better than Hurley’s, Golden’s, and even Donovan’s first two years were at UConn, Florida, and Florida.

Let’s not just give up yet, because it sure paid off for Uconn and Florida to be patient with Hurley, and Golden and Donovan.

Donovan’s first two years at Florida, he went 27-32.
Golden’s first two seasons at Florida, he went 40-29
Dan Hurley’ first two seasons at UConn, he went 35-29.

Pope’s first two seasons at Kentucky, 46-26

Maybe we can be a little more patient. It worked out well for UConn and Florida to be patient, don’t you think?

And by the way Pope’s head coaching record before Kentucky, stacks up better than Hurley’s, Golden’s, and Donovan’s records before they got to UConn and Florida also.

But they weren’t better than Pope’s. We hoped him coming here would vault him to another level. It hasn’t.

Maybe its more hope than anything, but I am saying 25+ wins with a chance at a healthy roster all year and backup guards who can contribute at least. If we go into the season with just Williams at PG then I would cast my vote for less wins.

lol zero chance Pope gets another year at UK with this roster he’s gonna have. Trent Noah will be starting at this rate. It’s actually hilarious

Pope needs a final 4 next season or he’s gone. His results are mediocre to date and the burden is on him to prove otherwise.

Do not move the goal posts.

Wrong again. Pay attention. Pope‘s first two years here, despite bad luck with injuries, were better than Hurley’s, Golden’s, and Donovan’s first two years at UConn and Florida.

Sometimes it takes a while. Pope inherited a total mess left by Calipari. Calipari won exactly 1 tournament game his last 4 seasons here. Despite numerous injuries, Pope has won 3 tournament games in his two seasons here.

I get your stance but new coaches aren't walking into good situations or they wouldn't need a new coach.
