Good player….but overrated out of HS. Not athletic enough to be a high level D1 player. For those of you who have lost interest in the women's side.
He shot form looked awkward. In the opportunities she had this year she looked lost and slow. Overrated out of HS.
No coincidence our worst three game stretch of the year is when she started. Not a big loss.
Talk about not having a clue what one is talking about. Thanks for showing you are clueless about bballIn the opportunities she had this year she looked lost and slow. Overrated out of HS.

If so ^^, and I have no way of knowing, then JJ absolutely did the right thing. It's one thing to be a player's coach and truly take the players feelings and wishes into account when making coaching decisions...it's a whole nuther thing to let the inmates run the asylum.Evidently Deal talked with Jan and want a guarantee that she would start and get the majority of playing time and Jan said that she couldn't guarantee that. So she entered the portal.
No idea if this happened or not, but if it did, Jan was 100% in the right. Addie wasn't good enough to start today and although we were all hoping for significant improvement into her sophomore year, there were no guarantees that she would be good enough next year. She's well behind CCW and Stremlow in terms of productivity today, so that left one starting guard spot available to fill. She needs to work hard to make sure she starts somewhere, not look for guaranteed minutes that she hasn't earned. If Iowa can go out and get a high quality transfer at the same level or higher as they have the last 2 years, theres a good chance that Addie would have still been coming off the bench.Evidently Deal talked with Jan and want a guarantee that she would start and get the majority of playing time and Jan said that she couldn't guarantee that. Correct. ^^ At least on the men's side, these kids are raking in high 6 figure incomes, some even 7 figures...per year...to play basketball. And on top of that their expenses are paid and they are receiving free schooling, etc. I would rather donate to a kid that is working hard and trying pay for, or defray, their actual college expenses.I realize women's basketball isn't the big money item, but this (and the exoduses happening all over the country) is exactly why I don't donate. I want to support Iowa athletics, and I’d love to donate, but it’s hard to justify right now. Fans are being asked to give money, while players can leave whenever they want with no real commitment in return. That just feels like a one-way street. If things ever shift to where there’s some accountability on both sides (contracts, transfer waiting periods, etc.), I’d gladly write a check. Until then, I’m just not interested in putting money into a system like this.

Yes, I am a sports fan too and love to see the home team do well, etc, but good grief, why do we as a society shovel HUGE buckets of cash to the people playing games for our entertainment and not for the kid down the block that is striving to be a future engineer, nurse, teacher, etc, etc? We are kind of whack IMO and I will not donate, beyond ticket prices and such, to this noise.
Pointing out the obvious is not celebrating. It's sad that several fans are celebrating this.
Didn't know that there was one, never been. But have helped at least one young person financially that is on the path to earning her nursing degree.last ticket you bought to the nursing expo?
Seriously? I hope when you're sick you get a nurse that can't help you. Because the great student athletes of today who only attend classes online and go to 4 different schools along with 3 different high schools over 6 years while getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to not really care about the jersey they are wearing ( this season) while fun to watch are not going to get any money from me.last ticket you bought to the nursing expo?

So is her leaving a big Deal or no big Deal? It's sad that several fans are celebrating this.
would not surprise me given todays supposed college BBall cultureEvidently Deal talked with Jan and want a guarantee that she would start and get the majority of playing time and Jan said that she couldn't guarantee that. So she entered the portal.
And yet my point stands......Pointing out the obvious is not celebrating.
Not reallyAnd yet my point stands......
I don’t see anyone celebrating. I actually think most are disappointed that a 5 star wasn’t unfortunately a 5 star and created demands. We actually needed her to be what she was advertised. She was unfortunately not.And yet my point stands......
She had an opportunity to start on the west coast trip and the first game back home against Minnesota: 0, 3 and 6 points in those games. Jan inserted Stremlow back in the lineup and we went on an 8 game win streak beating several top ten teams. Pretty obvious she wasn't ready and isn't that good. Not sure how this is a clueless take?Talk about not having a clue what one is talking about. Thanks for showing you are clueless about bball
Let's analyze this: Johnson and Levin are both bench players at best, Addie provided some good minutes but needed a lot of work in the off season to become a starter. Emely has been rumored to leave, she hasn't played all season. Mallegni has had health issues for two years, hasn't been a major contrbutor. Two programs going in opposite directions
It's because you don't understand my point. It's okay. You can sit down. Not really

Just wow - you leave a laughing emoji on the last 10 comments I made. You had to literally dig back about a week for them because I dared to leave one for you. You understand they have no real meaning other than demonstrating your insecurity? You are the poster boy for being an internet puss. Grow the F up and get a life outside of a message board. More like Comic Book guy, right? And yet my point stands......
Missing the point. People improve all the time. She was a Freshman. Stick around, earn your playing time and keep getting better physically and mentally. While not guaranteed (which she shouldn’t be) she would have probably been in line for Feurbach’s position, but guessing Jan is doing her due diligence on the roster and if a better portal is out there she’s looking. Deal decided to take her ball and leave. Which is her perogative.“She wasn’t ready and isn't that good”
I mean it’s not like players ever improve from their freshman to sophomore to junior year….
I know it’s customary to crap over majority of people who leave Iowa but Deal was 1 of 8 players to make Big 10 freshman team. She was no slouch and high chance of being a starter next year. Let’s not act she was a career bench warmer like Gyamfi leaving the program.
great example is Lauren Jensen. Sure no one blinked an eye when she left after freshman year here. Avg just over a pt a game and handful of minutes. Goes to creighton puts up double digits every year and she led the way when they upset Iowa Clark’s soph year in 2nd rd.

I don’t disagree with argument should should have stuck around. I was talking about people now with her in the portal saying she wasn’t that good anyway, or no loss. Yes she was a good player and scratching the surface on potential. Just inconsistent which happens to majority of frosh just as we saw same with Sage for men’s team. I do think she would have been front runner for the 3 spot. As for comments of her allegedly asking for guarantee minutes or starting spot I take with a grain of salt. Hearsay and easy to state unsubstantiated unflattering rumors on player leaving especially from fans that feel betrayed or upset that they are leaving and make it easier to justify in their own minds why they left. Sure more to it and not just 1 thing which we may never know.Missing the point. People improve all the time. She was a Freshman. Coaches have to buy out the years on their contract if they want to leave for another school before they become a true free agent. Whether it is them or the other school, someone pays for it. Or it is negotiated one way or another. It's not an apples to apples comparison. The players now are more like coaches...leave whenever you want regardless of any commitments you've made even if just verbal.

If players are going to be paid, they should not also get free tuition, books, food, housing, etc. They should have to pay for those themselves. They can have a choice: get $$ or a free education…not both.Correct. ^^ At least on the men's side, these kids are raking in high 6 figure incomes, some even 7 figures...per year...to play basketball. At the very least, there should be a dollar-figure value assigned to those benefits (along with the other benefits athletes receive, including tutoring, meals, weight training, travel, team swag, etc.), and that value should be reported every time athlete compensation is discussed. If players are going to be paid, they should not also get free tuition, books, food, housing, etc. They should have to pay for those themselves.
