Issue is idk who we’d get. Looking at the rankings there’s very few that look appealing to me. I was thinking Campos but he just announced he’s staying at American
That's who I was thinking also. Had a great tournament.

I’m glad he’s staying, I know having an AA come in and fill a gap would be awesome, but how top heavy this sport is starting to become isn’t a good thing. I don’t have that stats, maybe it’s something knownothing could figure out, but it seems like the point share is trending towards consolidating at the top. As Willie, among others, have been speaking about lately, this just isn’t a good thing big picture even if it is in our own interests. I want the Lock Havens and Americans and Riders to have (and keep) AAs .

I agree. Always good to see a smaller school retain its talent.

I know they want to take all the talent they can get, but this commitment surprises me a bit given the logjam we’ve got at his current weight. That said, it seems like he’s continuing to grow and for all we know he’ll end up a 174 by the time he’s enrolled and wrestling

I agree, seems like they are just trying to put the best guys in the room regardless of weight and let them all push each other. Certainly the upper weights will need to be addressed for the '28 class.

It seems logical he is above 157 even. He won a CA state championship at 150 and the Doc Buchanan at 153 this year. He is still just a junior. In Flo's latest rankings he is ranked #4 at 150 behind two seniors and another Junior, Penn St commit Clinton Shepherd. Even if he is a 157 there could just be one year of overlap between him and Robideau assuming Romero redshirts and Robideau does not.

Just got a commitment from Michael Romero from St. John’s Bosco in California. Flo had him number 25 in their last class of 27 big board and he is ranked 9th at 144.
This is very snobbish but when I see a recruit with those rankings I think "meh." But then I remember that our staff are master talent evaluators. He will end up way higher than that I guarantee. A great example is Rocklin Zinkin who was once #84 and #100 on the Flo Big Board when we recruited him but has now worked his way up to Top-10ish. If we want this guy he is going to be really good.

Yup! In staff we trust!

In all honesty, I think they look at much more than results in an entirely different way than most.

-Does the kid have ability?
-Does the kid have the mental fortitude to be a champ?
-Does the kid have the desire?
-Does the kid have an ability to be coached AND implement it quickly?
-Does the kid fit the program culture?

I honestly don’t think they care much about rankings. They probably care about projected upside ability. However, I think the intangibles are much more important than people understand?

If it makes you feel better, those were old rankings. Romero is currently #4 at 150 according to Flo as @proud2bpokes noted and #3 at 150 according to Willie

That is my worry for Jordan, Hopefully he keeps growing and challenge Dee for 165. And I heard both of them missed weight. And Jayden recently went at 140 for Kentucky title. So seems like Jayden making 133 is also going to be an issue.

With Jax Vega Landon I'm not sure how that happens. Getting both in the line up might not happen for a few years
I know Iowa fans are salivating at this 5 in 5 rule cause, they really want Raneys and hope OSU log jam helps them. I hope when time comes, Iowa doesnt fumble the bag. lol

They didn’t miss weight. Just decided to focus on folk instead of having long term obligations for USA

I usually don't care about rankings, but I have been curious where they would put Mikey White. Maybe this will put to rest some of the talk describing him as a project type guy who needs a year or two before he is ready to contribute. He is one of the most talented wrestlers in the class, and we are dang lucky to have him. He could win a national title next year.

Also, the five-in-five rule coupled with Zinkin's rapid rise is going to create a real competition at 125.

If you were committed to getting both Raneys in the lineup immediately, the simplest way would be for Landon to go 165. That would be tough to ask of him unless he hits a growth spurt.

Landon will have to grow to get to 165, it seems. He just wrestled 154 at the US Open.

As is, he could go 165 and be fine. He would easily AA. He would dang sure give us more points than our 165 pounder this last year gave us. But I agree that it isn't his ideal weight and asking him to wrestle there would be asking him to make a massive sacrifice.

I was just making the point that if you were forced to wrestle your best lineup with both Raneys in it, this is what you would do.

Theres one more option..... let Vega go 49 this year then shirt him and bulk him to 65. He has the height and was a little over 160 in the off season although he's not very heavy currently. I just dont see Landon moving up.

And yes Im aware Vega losing his height advantage w/ his style could be a thing but its still an option.
