You realize you’re talking to someone who is from Maryland and played Division I college lacrosse at Rutgers, right? Are you sure you want to keep digging this hole deeper and deeper? You should quit while you’re behind. Way behind.
Appreciate his contributions to the lax program, but no need to call me a moron because I disagree with a ridiculous comparison of Baltimore and New Brunswick.

The fact he’s trying to pass off Baltimore as a college is crazy.

Re watched the game with a more critical eye. We should have won this game going away. Gelinas made some outstanding saves, not including the two dunks we just shot into his stick. Sometimes wins like this are more valuable though. They learned from the OSU game.

Only minus is our fogo situation. Scarelli took a nasty hit in OT. We are going to need him. He’s been getting better and better .

Agree, but you know what I like. That some of our top guys didn't have the best games and instead a lot of other guys stepped up. Shows what we've said since the start of the season, this is a tough team that, outside of 1 game, is not going to give up.

dude just stop - you may be the only former D1 lax player from MD on the planet that would trash JHU’s campus (girls) and Baltimore. It is or more likely was the Mecca of lax. Next you are gonna say playing at SHI is better than Homewood. Celebrate a great RU win and move on.

You obviously aren’t from there. People who live there trash it all the time. The city has been decimated. I’m enjoying the great win. Take your own advice.

team loves playing in SHI. Too may big wins to count there over the years. We have a great record there. I watch from the field or the recruiting lounge. I prefer both Homewood. Don’t go the games if you are so bothered.

I don’t know why this is a topic of conversation. You sound ridiculous about JHU/Baltimore. Great RU lax win - period. But nobody other than a RU alumni would say NB is whateverX better than Baltimore. There are like 5 colleges within 10 minutes of JHU. Fells Point. Inner Harbor. Anyway sure NB is amazing college town on the rise…
I guess you don't really know RU. The students love living in the Verve which is very near the train station, bars, restaurants, in town and the college ave campus. You act like its a slum like atmosphere. It's not and there's plenty to do there and many off campus housing. Have you been there on a Saturday or Friday night after a football game ? NB cops have to do crowd control. You're living in the dark ages.

Super win for RU.

One measure of a place is whether people want to live there.

Population change last 20 years, New Brunswick +14%, Baltimore -10%.

Population change last 50 years, New Brunswick +32%, Baltimore -35%.

New Brunswick is one of the fastest growing cities in the Northeast. Baltimore is going in the opposite direction.

I like Aldo and Cali
Both bring different views to things and are ball busters - which is why I enjoy reading their posts

Baltimore is a ********, but cool nonetheless
Would be much cooler if it wasn't run by morons, but still has fun parts in and near it
JHU is a world class institution, and Homewood, though quirky, is legendary

Rutgers, and NB in particular, though not on the level college town wise as Athens, Austin, etc. is definitely on the upswing
Easton Ave isn't as bad as it once was, the Verve is rocking on fb game days, College Ave is College Ave, and even Livingston is on the upswing
I'd love to have a lax only facility, and believe we'll have one shortly, as soon as the $$ comes in

SHI has been good to us - real good
And the guys love playing there
But there's something to be said about having a 5k seat, lax only, specific venue
Can't wait until we get it

That late turnover by JHU that allowed the incredible tying goal to be scored is similar to what Duke did at the end of the UConn game. Both RU and UConn had to take advantage of the mistake by making huge plays. As Cali pointed out, Scarelli was in extreme pain (almost looked like he separated his shoulder) and couldn't get off the field. He is needed for this team to reach its full potential. Fingers crossed. This game made my weekend!

You forgot about the Yard in New Brunswick. Built in parking lot where grease trucks used to be parked across from Scott Hall. It was an awesome addition. My son graduated last year and was blessed to stay there his Sr. year.

IMHO: Baltimore is a pro town and areas by Inner Harbor, M&T and Camden Yards are nice but two to three blocks North is horrible. Unfortunately, there are a lot of vacant stores in the Inner Harbor area, which shows a drop off in foot traffic. I am a Ravens Fan and attend numerous games a year. JHU is not what I perceive as tge heart of "Baltimore"

Most Ravens and Orioles fans hang out at Pickles, Section 771, or Birdhouse Bar.

As someone else pointed out, that score had to be executed perfectly. It started with Cardin throwing an absolute strike. Kelly didn’t get nervous making a fling at the goal, instead drawing attention to hit the trailer in Mongillo, who ripped a perfectly located shot. That was pure execution drawn up by Bieda on the sidelines. I can just hear Brian on the huddle before OT. “There is no fvcking way we are losing this game”.

Talking to Keli, there are interesting talks going on around a new venue. It’s the craziest thing I’ve heard in awhile. Will be interesting to see what happens.
Different concept than the field they were talking about building in the Blue Lot?

very worried about this...i am far from a dr, but the way he was moving after the play looked like a broken collarbone...hope it's not that serious or he is done for the year. that was a vicious stick

i wasn't able to watch live, so I watched the replay...and even though I heard we won, I started to wonder if I heard wrong...because with 12 secs left I am like "How the FVK do we win this game?!?!?!"

Incredible job by Brecht and the team...WOW!

Rutgers rises to #13 in the IL/media poll today.

Of course, in Quint's own personal top 20, he only has us at #16 -- despite taking out previously ranked #7 Hopkins -- and says (in his commentary on #17 Hopkins) "Rutgers is hard to watch." And he always has to make a comment about how awful it is to play in our football stadium. Today he writes: "SHI Stadium feels like an empty morgue on a sleepy Sunday." Clearly he wasn't at the game, or else he would've realized that the 2,500 fans in the building yesterday were pretty raucous. And he does realize that his blueblood fave Maryland ALSO plays in their football stadium, right?

Sorry = hate to say it but QK nailed it. If you attend a top 20 lax match up at a true lax facility or smaller venue the experience is totally different. SHI may have plenty of good memories but being surrounded by a sea of empty seats and poor acoustics even with 2500 in the stands is just not ideal. It’s like going to a game at Penn when compared to Princeton = no comparison as the Penn football field feels like a cavern. If RU can build a lax facility or shared soccer facility (something like Yale) it would be a massive boost to the program. IDK about the feasibility or financials, but RU sits in a talent rich area for sports like lax and wrestling - and should provide better support.

I’m not talking about college girls period. But to humor you - sure, I bet there is a survey out there that says JHU females are not the most attractive. And I’d also bet the top 10 least attractive colleges are the Ivies and high academics as brains and beauty typically do not go together.

Ok, please share some details. I'm trying to think what crazy would be and came up with these locations and then building full stands around it and locker rooms:

1. Taking the turf field at Battaglia.

2. Sharing the Bauer Track and Field complex with field hockey.

3. Taking over the intramural Sports Club Field on the corner of Bartholomew and Brett.

4. Taking over 1 of the University Park and Rec Complex intramural fields across from Werblin and blue lot.

5. Entire new build on Werblin lawn.

Hopkins will never be the juggernaut it once was. Still a very solid program but a number of other schools have caught up or surpassed them. Their alumni better be prepared to continue funding at a high level or they are going to have bigger problems. They don’t have the football resources other Big Ten programs have access to and that school, outside of the education, is very unattractive. Baltimore is awful, girls are terrible, and there is no real social life to speak of.

Yale had a whale (former iax player but not a star) fund the facility. Also funded the locker room/training facility. And in '21, when the Ivies were not playing a regular schedule, he offered a 7 figure donation to hold an all Ivy weekend of interleague play at a secure facility. The league turned him down

Yeah Joe Tsai…made a huge donation to Yale and did the same for Lawrenceville as he left his mark on both campuses. A lax NC would be within reach for RU with the right funding and facilities. UNC pushed money from football to lax and look at how many 5* they got. Hate to say it but football will never be a NC contender. We don’t even have the instate talent like FL or TX. LAX is different story.

We have a lax stadium already. We were one of the first schools to have one. It’s called Yurcak. Ronald Yurcak was a lacrosse player not a soccer player. How the soccer team commandeered that stadium is beyond comprehension. The Yurcak family is still involved with the program and are still pissed. Rightfully so. If I ever build Anything there I’m going spend more on attorneys than the building making sure it never leaves lacrosse.

QK is a known douche and Rutgers hater. Him and Brian despise each other after Brian called him out to his face.

The Rutgers administration owes lacrosse a stadium. It’s that simple.
