Pope’s last year approaching

We’re off to a hot start in this year’s portal cycle—rumors swirling about transfers from second-tier programs, hiring recruits’ fathers whose kids aren’t even top-100 prospects, and now Stokes probably heading to Kansas.

Pope is kinda like me with my homework. I know the assignments I just choose not to do them. Pope knows he’s cooked, just won’t admit it. Just wait till he hits us with the “we’re spoiled” quote recently used by Brian Kelly at LSU. He swears Kentucky is doing great and has all the data to back it up. We’re better than Cal’s last four years so you guys get a grip.

So next year, when the losses start piling up. Don’t be sad. Be glad. For a new coach is approaching.

What I think is funny is that most want Pope to reel in Stokes, even thinking it has to happen. In reality, it’s my opinion that it could be the worst thing that could happen. Again, just my opinion.

We are nothing but a backup plan for Stokes in case Self hangs it up. He thinks he’s got a big bag either way. The way I would play it if I were Pope is this. I’d take Stokes until the second Self possibly announces he’s done. At that instant, I’d rescind my offer because it means he wanted to go to Kansas all along and we were just a bag (in case). I’d let him go to a newly coached KU or somewhere else.
He comes here it’ll be a Petersen, Brown, or JQ situation. We don’t need a half hearted situation going on.

What I'm hearing is we got his kid so we could get the dad who could help in recruiting. I agree this might very well be Pope's last year but to make any judgement before the roster is set is ridiculous. (By the way I don't think Pope has what it takes but he's getting a 3rd year so lets see what he ends up with) Relax!

Mo's subpar recruiting at Jackson St doesn't inspire confidence, but he also can't do any worse than the previous recruiting "aces" on the staff

I think there are a lot of non-UK fans on this message board. To openly root for Coach Pope's failure makes no sense. I want him to succeed if he does not then UK must change coaches. But to openly want to see failure because you don't like the coach is insane. Might as well be Louisville fans. Coach Cal was terrible his last 5 years here and I openly rooted for him to succeed until it was time for him to go. If he had stayed another year, I would have rooted for him and my team to win. I do not know any of these coaches personally. I root for them professionally because they coach the team, I grew up supporting. I want every player that wears the uniform to succeed here. I want every assistant coach to succeed here. To openly root against that is stupid. I think reading some of y'all's posts I know understand why shampoo bottles come with directions.

I guess he could have hired 5-star Dad's like DJ Wagner, Aaron Bradshaw, Skal Labiessiere, Marcus Lee, Weyyen Gabriel, EJ Montgomery, Brandon Boston, Hamidou Diallo, Devin Askew, Terrance Clark, Olivier Sarr, Justin Edwards, etc.... We have had many 4 star players better than any of these players

So once it plays out like all of us who know the game and know how recruiting and roster construction works, and it ends up being exactly how we said it would, can we stop with the gaslighting and goalposts moving? And maybe, just maybe, show us some GD respect?

He made a prediction. Of course information is unknown, but at this point, given Pope’s history, it’s a reasonable prediction. His prediction bakes in a guess as to the roster and also Pope’s coaching ability.

I plan on being super-supportive because even if our program implodes I don't want to come across as rude or impatient.

Does that mean if none of your predictions comes true and all this UK hate will go away or transfer to the football team since your pitiful and useless

The reason we want Pope gone is because any extra time he gets just delays us from getting our program back. Same way with CCC. He sucked SO BAD the last few years he was at UK that he was doing the same thing as Pope … delaying any hope of better days. It’s obvious Pope is killing UK basketball every day. Just let him go asap.
