NO

What we don't need is a quarterback that came from our offensive system pre-Lester helping coach quarterbacks. We need to focus less on people that already have some sort of connection to Iowa football.

His X profile says "Assistant Offensive Line Coach".

During his medical year at Iowa he was supposedly working with the Oline.

It looks like maybe he's trying to establish himself as an Oline coach, which is smart if he wants to leverage his ties to Ferentz, long-term, over his career.

This move also tells me that Brian has a decent amount of "juice" inside the Fresno State program, which is good to see.

Think he has a shot at QB coach for Iowa sometime down the line?
I seriously doubt he has any interest in doing so with the flack he caught here tbh.

I know he was a GA here but that was with his former teammates/staff. But when Kirk retires and that staff is gone I suspect he will be a bigger Utah State fan than Iowa fan.

He's actually a really proud Hawkeye alum.

I know Fresno State is not high level football. But why would you submit yourself to having the two main architects of the worst offense in modern big ten history on your staff?? Can you imagine Spencer and Brian reminiscing about Iowa football and being like, “Rememebr that time we dropped 21 points on Nevada? That was a great day.” 🤭

Good to see for Spencer or Fresno State football? If Brian has “juice” with any program’s offensive side of the ball, I can promise you it’s not a good thing!

BF is OL coach. He was good with them. No one doubts that when he was solely focused on the OL

For Brian himself, but also for Kirk.

Kirk's legacy took a bit of a hit with the whole Brian as O coordinator, Barta as his "supervisor", and as Brian QB coach fiasco.

So the more success Brian has outside of Iowa and away from Kirk, the more Kirk's credibility is restored.

I think Brian has about as much "juice" as an orange tree in a drought.

That's fair criticism, the numbers don't lie.

It would appear that Matt Entz is willing to look past all of that, and that he has a lot of faith in Brian's ability to coach O line, such that he's letting him bring in his own analyst/assist of choice.

I imagine BF and Spencer bonded a lot during the time when the "angry mob" was out to get them.

Spencer has talked about wanting to get into coaching for a while, and it seems like he always idolized Kirk, so I think Fresno State is going to get the best that Petras has to offer.

I’d say by the way he went from an “offensive analyst” at one of the worst programs in the Big Ten to coaching tight ends at an average non-power 5 school to coaching the offensive line at the same school, the credibility isn’t being restored.

I bet you a dozen or more try to land ine of thise offensive analyst positions on the Fresno State staff, and Brian got to fill it with "his guy", which means he's got some pull within the building.

Things are moving in the right direction for Brian.

Sorry if you don't like him, but I'll always supportive of anyone who graduated from Iowa (including Spencer).

I think there's a 80% chance Brian goes to a power program in the next 4 years. Yes, that's a long slog back to the power level, but I think he gets there.

Sure. As an offensive line coach, which he never should have rose above at Iowa. It cost the football program Big Ten Championships.
