Meridian Air Show …

We got in the car line at 8:30 with the gate opening at 9, got in around 11. Then stood in line while they tried to screen thousands of people thru 7 metal detectors. Watched the skydive team, F22 and F35 from the line, still impressive. Just as we were about to get screened around 1 a bigwheel told the screeners to just let everyone thru. After that we had a good time. Whoever planned the security had no clue, reminded me of my time in the Navy. The Blue Angels were great as always. I sometimes see them when I am camping or riding around Lake Perry, guess they use Camp Shelby to stay war qualified. Mig 17 and A4 were cool, hate noone was flying an F4, I always liked them.
Was driving up 45 Saturday and saw the line of cars. Wondered how long it would take to get in, one of the longest lines I've ever seen.
We went Saturday and didn't have that much trouble getting in. Got in the car line on Campground Road around 9:00 and was parked in an hour or so. The line to get in the security gate/metal detectors took over an hour but we were seated by the time it started.
If there had been any emergency on the MS roadways yesterday there would have been NO troopers available because I had dozens pass me going South on 45 yesterday morning and again going North late afternoon. They were all parked at the gates on 45 when I passed through there
I've only ever attended one air show and that was in Japan but I was helping to work it. I've been extremely lucky in my civilian career to have personally witnessed every airframe in the inventory across the services with the exception of the U2. Even got to see the old F-117 up close on it's farewell tour.
