I feel so sorry for Duke.

What a horrible way to lose a game.

That would have been an amazing choke job had it not benefited a total douche bag like Worley. Yuck. But awesome watching Duke piss one away.

If you haven't seen the last minute, check it out. Amazing how this tournament delivers such moments every year. No wonder it's so popular. Oh, the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat . . .
Duke still had a timeout left and while the clock was stopped while Uconn shot free throws the Duke coach could have been telling his players they did not even need to get it past halfcourt.

Play keep away and hold the ball .

In the end you have to make a safe pass. Hate to see any team blow that situation but doesnt matter if both both big 10 teams win

Duke didnt even need to rush it across the half court line. That player could have used a pass fake or held it, of course they would have fouled him but....
I thought Duke was one of the great universities of higher learning. One of their great student athletes did a dumb thing.

Yep, you can practice that game ending scenario a lot , 10 seconds left, up by 1 2 or 3 pts and taking the ball out at the opponent baseline. #1 you dont have to get it past halfcourt, #2 the coach had time to sub in his best free throw shooters so not sure if the did, and always just hold the ball to waste time and take that last timeout

but the real moment is different than practice

Could they also not have just "shot" the ball high up in the air there at mid-court and let the clock run out as the ball traveled harmlessly 30' in the air?

Wow! What a way to go out! Imagine being a Uconn fan...I would have freaked out watching "my" team win a game like that. Never say never.

Of course they could throw it in the air and if uconn fouls a guy without the ball it is intentional giving free throws and the ball to duke.

Yes, they absolutely could have. They could have done almost anything except what they did. And yet the UConn kid still had to throw in a 40-footer for it to matter so, of course, he did.

Now, imagine if UConn goes on to win the natty.

Poor Duke! ;)
