$194 for The Boys From Oklahoma show at Waco this past August…

Ragweed, Turnpike, Shane Smith and the Saints, Wade Bowen Band, American Aquarium and a bunch of special guests…

I’ve spent more on a handful of festivals… I don’t really like to go to them…

300 per seat, but it was front row.

When u2 was at the sphere, I "won" the lottery to buy tix and back row was 1200 each. I passed.

Probably around $150 or so. I’m not much of a price conscious guy. If I want to go I’ll go. But the prices some of these legacy bands are charging are outrageous & I won’t pay them. I’m a huge Rush fan & I’m excited to see Annika Nilles. But when I saw the police’s they’re charging I said screw that. Geddy’s voice went to sh*t well over a decade ago. As great as Clockwork Angels was (one of their best albums ever), parts of that concert tour were painful to hear.

I’m price conscious in that I want to pay off my credit card each month and not have to deal with interest charges.

While I go to a lot of shows, I’ve got several friends who’ve been to more concerts than I have so far this year, and I’m on pace to be at over 70 in 2026 which is well above my usual average of 50…

We’ll see if that happens… I *really* doubt it will…

So with that said, ticket prices are largely a secondary concern...

Travel and hotel costs are usually the bigger issue…

Serious question. Seeing that much live music, do you do anything to protect your hearing??

No. I am partially deaf and have tinnitus…

I wear hearing aids so that I can hear people and the music; for me, wearing ear plugs would be counterproductive…

You really don’t want to hear the stories of what I thought lyrics were prior to wearing hearing aids…

And I’ve had tinnitus since the ‘10 State - Bama football game in Tuscaloosa…

On tinnitus thing, how do you cope with it? Anything special? I’m asking because my dad has it and I was just curious if there’s anything different to try?

White noise or background noise or music works for me.

I have music on in my office… usually YouTube or Spotify…

When I’m out of the office and still in the building, I’m usually someplace where there is a vent running which does a good job of generating white noise…

Edit to add: One thing I used to enjoy that I can’t do anymore are attending plays. Being in a larger room where there is supposed to be silence when people on stage are talking…. That’s gasoline and matches for my tinnitus…

It is what it is

I would like to take ASL classes; however, the main class setting is being in a room with several people…

Half of the class are talking out loud and signing in ASL to the other half…

One of the consequences of me being on the Spectrum is that all the talking by the students generates so much noise that I have gotten sensory overload headaches…

Communicating a few years later with a deaf ASL teacher who wanted me to attend classes, I had to explain why traditional methods of ASL education do not work for me…

Ask again after the Zach Bryan weekend. Probably some new entries after that.
Likely so. 🙂

I don’t know if I can make that show yet, but the pricing is similar to last year’s Boys From Oklahoma show in Waco the last time I checked…

$395 each for 2 tickets to see Tool in Biloxi January of 2024. $188 of that $790 was Stubhub fees. Wife and I went
