Trump says Iran's strike capabilities "have been nearly eliminated."

But two thirds of Iran's missiles remain. Seems like someone is doing a pretty good imitation of Pinocchio here. Or it's possible that he simply has no friggin' idea what he's talking about.

But there's good news. He apparently told Dana Perino - repeatedly - that she's still hot. Nothing inappropriate or creepy about that at all. ROFL.

no I have no idea of Iran's remaining capabilities, but having missiles is only one part of the equation..you also need the equipment to launch them...I believe that's the part that both trump and netanyahu were talking about

Ned, ned, ned… you just can’t help yourself can you? Trump has been saying for weeks that Irans military capability has been eliminated and they keep proving him wrong. at this point I’m not sure if Trump is just lying, or if this is actually what his people keep telling him. just like when they told him that 100% of the country supports the Iran war.

I thought we completely obliterated their capabilities last year?

I'm really not sure why you're disagreeing with me. It's entirely possible that Iran could have 90% of it's missiles left, but without launchers they are intrinsically worthless. You can't just pick them up and throw them at Israel.

Now whatever Trump says, everybody can take or leave. I'm only looking at if from a military perspective. And, just from the number of targets, the guidance and accuracy of our bombs/missiles, it is illogical that we haven't knocked out their launchers. Do they still have some left? Well, the fact that some missiles are still being fired points to that fact.

if you thought that you were't paying attention. According to Trump/Hegseth we obliterated their nuclear enrichment capability. Bad choice of a word, as I have posted before.

If we obliterated their nuclear enrichment capability, then why are we at war with them now? Wouldn’t obliterating their enrichment capability prevent them from making a nuclear weapon?

Rumor is that 10k more troops are headed to Iran. Add Another 100k or so more and we'll be ready to fully invade. We need another war.

Trump lies about everything every day. So if he said their strike capabilities have been eliminated, they have not.

you're asking me? who knows why people do things they do, or don't do.

But, according to the Iranians, they have enough enriched uranium to make 10 or 11 bombs....so there's that. But, just so you know, I have absolutely no idea if they have that material. And, I have no idea how they might or might not ever use or be able to use it. But I do know, or at least think, that the world would be a better, safer place if Iran did not have any nuclear capability.

Now some might disagree with my thoughts, and would be OK with Iran having nuclear weapons. And that's fine. These folks might be 100% right and Iran will be a wonderful addition to the world's nuclear family. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and because their opinion is opposite mine doesn't make them, or me, bad people. Just people with differing opinions.

see, that's part of the problem with stories...they seem to get "adjusted" as they pass from person to person. Now it's entirely possible that Trump said that Iran's strike capabilities have been eliminated and I didn't see it. If that's the case then the rest of this post is 100% in error and I'll apologize in advance. Because, since Iran just sent a missile into Saudi Arabia, clearly they have a strike capaibility. But what I heard was their strike abilities had been (and I won't get the word right as I don't hang on every word Trump says) nearly or almost or maybe even 80% eliminated. And, after 4 weeks of intense bombings of their strike capabilities I'd have to say I believe him, principally because I have extreme confidence in the abilities of our military

so I'm going to guess you come down on the side of Iran having a nuclear weapon? Or are you one of those who believes Iran is only enriching uranium for energy purposes?

Enriching uranium to 60% is a critical, high-level proliferation step that significantly reduces the time needed to produce weapon-grade (90%+) uranium. While 20% enrichment is used for research reactors, 60% is considered a strategic, near-weapon-grade level that provides 99% of the effort required for 90% enrichment, making it a key concern for nuclear weapons capability

I thought of that Ned, but I also note that Iran continues to launch missiles on a daily basis.

they do, which means they still have capaibility. So obviously anyone who says "we have eliminated their capability" is wrong. But I don't think anyone has said that...maybe they have and I haven't noticed it. But I have seen statements like "we've nearly eliminated..." which would track with what Israel and other military "experts" have reported.

There is no doubt in my mind that Trump/Hegseth have this tendency to exaggerate. But, as I posted in another thread, after 4 weeks, over 15,000 targets hit, smart weapons being used and skill of our pilots, I have a tendency to believe that we have done a significant amount of damage to Iran's launch capabilities. I'm more impressed with how well our weapon systems have done in knocking Iran's missiles out of the sky. Hitting a bullet with a bullet at a 90% effective rate is impressive.
