I would give Reese as much rest as I could. She has been playing a lot of tennis lately. The rest should welcome and needed. By her resting, this should help the team out tremendously moving forward. Also, this will give Zampardo more reps to get her rhythm back, her form back, and her conditioning back. Who knows she could move into the number 2 spot for us. Go Heels!

I agree with resting her when possible-I just hope that's all to it.

It seems like they are looking at various doubles combos - although it looks like Maddy and Maltby are a likely pair. I would anticipate Alanis and Reese due to their success and familiarity (provided Alanis and Reese are healthy). So who is odd man out between 3 really good doubles players- Tatim, Obi, and Anna.

Agreed too that Maddy needs all the reps possible. I can see her moving up a bit but ai dont Tatum is going to let up at #2. She has been crushing it this season.

Reese was not at the match today. Her parking space was also empty. Doubles was over in 21 minutes.
Looks like she had 100,000 reasons to spend the day in Indian Wells, CA instead...

I should have used her parking space!

I was watching court 1 while working with no handle on the other 5 courts. Completely caught by surprise when they stopped playing and shook hands half way through the 2nd set,

Interesting double pairing today:
#1 Maddy and Alanis
#2 Susanna and Tatum
#3 Frey and Oby

Not sure I like Susanna and Tatum together. But am really fascinated with Maddy and Alanis pairing.

Watching #2 doubles (I've noticed this before but worth sharing) and I love how bouncy and upbeat Susanna is. She has great hands at the net as well.

Looks like VT simply chose not to field a 6th singles player. Wild. They had 6 to play doubles 🤷‍♂️ Thea gets a walkover on court 6.

The Heels are well on their way to victory

Already beat them, it was months ago indoors and at home. Looks like their line ups have changed from 3-6.

Best team they have played since OU.

Having Frey and Zamprado come in January has really elevated our program. Go Heels!

Our Single players are so inconsistent outside of Reese.
and evans. i don't recall evans losing a dual team match this year. at least not yet, as she's in a 3rd set. frey has also been very solid.

spoke too soon. evans and frey both lose in 3 sets and uva wins 4-3. really poor performance in singles.

Few Thoughts:

1. I hadn't put together that Anna likely has been getting heckled a ton at away matches. At our home matches there is definitely a visible crowd there to see the "TikTok star", there being a similar group at away matches and them being antagonistic is likely the default.
2. Not sure how the referee never made a comment around what type of cheering was occurring and its timing, there was nothing overly flagrant but enough of a level that I have seen many refs chastise the crowd for multiple times
3. The ref also overruled Anna 3 times, Oby was hit twice, Maddy was hit once, didn't see any called against Duke myself
4. For as impressive as Anna has been, she doesn't really have a repertoire of pitches, her game works against players she's better than because she doesn't really miss. But she doesn't have a ton to put the opponent off-balance, ideally I think she plays 5 or 6 in the tournament.
5. Reese is just better than her opponent and does a really good job of shutting them down
6. The team recovered well, we had 3-4 girls serve for the first set in a 5 minute period and I think maybe all but 1 got broken. They all rallied to win the set.
7. We're pretty solidly 5th in the rankings, not sure the ACC has enough juice to get us higher, but we also have to be careful not to drop further IMO

We have to remember that Anna F. just got here this semester. She did not play in the fall. She is a true freshman and that she has some learning to do by playing. I am sure BK and staff will help get through the funk that she is going through. Go Heels!

I am more than pleased with the play by Frey. I predicted she would not start at all once Zampardo joined the team. clearly I was wrong. Or at the very least she is playing above her senior year HS ranking

Clemson match looking good, although not secured. Kajuru back to impressive scores / wins again, that’s a great thing. Does anyone know if she was less than 100% the last few weeks?

ETA: I went back and checked myself and it’s not like she has lost matches recently besides the UVa one. Maybe she was just so dominant the first part of the season and I saw she sat out a recent match. Anyway, she’s kicking butt and that’s awesome.

frey seems to have seriously hit the freshman wall. i am not sure what's going on there, as she's been really good until the last week.

Obi looked dominant ant with her strokes, her body language, etc. She was having fun out there.
Frey on other hand looked like she'd rather be anywhere else but on court. Body language was frustrated and often lackadasical. Often just have up on points.
