Why did Sandfort leave again?

Ben wanted him. He was always a Hoiberg fan and had a good relationship with him. I think he came to Iowa initially because of his brother.
FRom what I have seen on the BIG network. He attended ISU BB camps and loved Freddy. The main reason he came to Iowa was to play with his brother. Its a shame that the largest Metro area in the state is close to Ames. That proximity has bred a lot of ISU fans.

Freeman disappeared after his Freshman season at Iowa,.. Great potential, not sure what was going on there.
Guy Rucker 2.0

as for Payton as long as he wasn’t at the game last night wearing husker gear last night so be it. Supporting his brother. Not first time an athlete who played at another school wearing colors of team of person playing on the court or field. He played through lot of injuries and gave everything he had at Iowa and could’ve left after soph and jr year as I’ve heard he was offered more than Iowa was giving but stayed loyal.

Agreed. Payton Sanfordt gave his all for the Hawks, I don't understand the vitriol towards him. He's a Hawkeye for life, and supporting his brother who now plays somewhere else. Meh. Just one more ****** component of the NIL era.

And Pryce and Josh Dix being at Iowa still we'd have most certainly finished higher than we did in the Big Ten. Pryce isn't winning any awards on Defense, but he's 1st Team Big Ten and those players have value.

Neither of these guys are Owen Freeman, so that's good for them. 😉

Rucker had a cup of tea in the Association. Freeman won’t come close to that.

Didn't The Bohannon brothers sport Iowa gear at Jordan's games?

Without a doubt he's a very good player. Having said that, good riddance anyway!

Just watched a post game clip from a Nebraska news station from last night. PS said "...if I am back next year". Portal? Pros?
I saw that clip to. I get pryce saying he’d talk to his family because I’ve seen his name as 2nd rd pick in mocks. Like Payton was after jr year and we saw what injuries did cause him to go undrafted. But the Nebraska native frosh Frager saying he’s taking it year by year was tad surprising.

If we still had Sandfort and Dix,... just imagine.
We have no idea how that would have went. They came from 3 years of playing for a coach that didn’t value defense. I’m not sure you can just turn the light on and play in a completely different system. Stirtz was always going to have the ball in his hands the same amount even if we had those 2. Sandfort made the right move for him. Constant cutting and an offense pretty similar to Fran, which was very free wheeling. Worked out well for all. No hard feelings either way, why should it?

We don’t know if that is true. Would we have made the elite 8 with the 2 of them over what we have?

Pryce? There is every reason to believe he will stay loyal to Hoiberg. Pro basketball? Please. He’s got a jump shot but can you imagine Pryce Sandfort trying to defend NBA guards? Maybe you meant Europe or Australia pro BB. Possibly.

Well he’s better than his brother and he’s getting a cup of coffee. There is a place in the NBA for shooters when some teams are tossing up 40 3’s a game.

Keegan had to learn to defend at the NBA level. Now he's one of the league's elite defenders. PS can learn as well.

lol you’re comparing Pryce Sandfort to Keegan Murray? C’mon man.
Not comparing. I'm saying why not? Like Z said, the NBA wants shooters. He's a smart kid. He can learn. Not saying he'd be the level of Keegan, but he'd be a lot better with the right organization.

My guess is, if we had PS or Dix, then we wouldn't have Hausen.
You're probably right regarding Dix, but I'm skeptical regarding Pryce. Fran had Pryce play some at the 2, but he works much better at the 3.

Why I think Momcilivic for ISU should and will go pro. Kid can shoot but kudos to Tenn last night face guarding him with Jefferson out making other 4 beat them.

apologies for token white guy comparisons but if you can shoot there are spots in the league for these types of guys like Duncan Robinson or Sam hauser for the Celtics. Why Kyle korver played 15 years in the NBA. Key is finding the right team and fit.

I just don’t think Pryce would be able to guard good enough to play the 3. I could be wrong though.

He’ll clearly struggle on the defensive end if he gets a shot but damn that quick release of his is something. But he also might want to find a weight room.

Maybe not, but he's more likely to be able to defend at the 3 than at the 2. He plays the 3 for Nebraska, and usually did when he was a Hawk.
