Loved that they were blown out. I had posted here before the game that they had lucked out on their 2 NCAA opponents to get that far. Cal had way better talent than Kentucky this season and still crapped out. Now the only other team I want to see lose is Duke. The rest doesn't matter.
Uconn matters. Can't stand them. Mostly bc they lucked into titles in 2011 and 14 at our expense.

I’m not a fan of his and can’t stand Arkansas, but in a weird way I gained more respect for them tonight. They were so outmatched, couldn’t hit a shot, Arizona made everything, but they fought for each other. The Richmond foul is exactly what we need here: players that just say f-it, we are going down, but I’m standing up for my coach and guys. (Incoming Vek Cal Derangement Syndrome Post)

Wagner isn't going anywhere. 100% he stays at Arkansas. Cal will make sure he's well compensated.
Where would he go? That said, he should leave and see if his abilities fit better in an offense and not just as a hand off and break the man down on the dribble guard.

Still blows. A lot of people riding the guys jock the last couple weeks.

- Beat 2 ranked teams all year.
- Beat Oklahoma and Ole Miss to make it to the SEC final
- Beat Hawaii and High Point to make it to the Sweet 16
- Lost to Kentucky (maybe the funniest part)
- And he went all season without developing a bench….again. And it’s killing the Hogs tonight.

As a few others have said:

Pope ain’t it, but Cal ain’t sh*t
JM, I’m sorry I wasn’t able to get you tickets this season.

Great post though. However, I’m not ready to give up on Pope yet. Remember, Hurley, Golden, and Donovan all took time to get things rolling. Let’s give Pope some time.

I‘ve been a sports junkie since I can remember being alive. I realize how quickly things can change. The key for coaches, like everyone else in life, is to get better every year.

Learn what works, and what doesn’t. Hurley, Donovan, Golden, Wright, etc, didn’t set the world on fire starting out at their big time jobs, but, they learned from their mistakes, and improved.

Let’s see if Pope can do this. Maybe he does, maybe he doesn’t. We’ll see.

Bottom line on Cal....good Coach, but he one a title with Anthony Davis carrying the load, and lost in the Final Four with the most talented team to not win a Championship since NC State defeated Houston. The only way he can win is if he has clearly the most talent, and even then there is no guarantee.
The NBA lockout was a HUGE factor in that championship too.

he big mad at Pope for throwing shade. After a 21 point loss he's worried about UK's recruiting.

Cal, you are at Arkansas. The man you replaced took them to 2 elite 8's in 5 years. Look in the mirror, you threw this away.

Cal took his shot at UK in his post game presser.
Here’s an article about it.
And the quote, “…’We're all in the same boat right now,’ Calipari noted. ‘How about this, you have no recruits, you have no idea who's coming back, you don't have the money you had a year ago. You do not. And now all of a sudden you're trying to keep guys, figure out who else out there wants to come and who wants to put like a bidding war, which we wouldn't be involved in’….”

Kev are you good my guy? The Hurley and Golden (now Donovan?) stuff has been explained like 40 times. It’s not similar there are no similarities. Pope is nearing mid 50’s, Donovan? These are different eras too. I’m just not really understanding but are you not seeing the rebuttals? They don’t have similarities?

Hot damn he just took a massive shot at Pope. He’s not wrong, but what a mess Calipari and Pope and the race to the bottom. Omg.

Can you imagine if that guy AND HIS 35 MILLION BUYOUT were still here ? As bad as Pope has been , we’re STILL in a better situation. It will be much easier to get rid of Pope .
This is very true. I don’t think I could stomach Calipari anymore but sht it took a season for Pope to do it with me. But yea that would be bad. Oh sht Arkansas is going to attack him next and take shots and then he’s gonna turn. And that little program to him is meaningless. He’s going to absolutely bury those biches on his way out 🤣

No one in the history of college basketball has done less with more . Not even Dean Smith.
Nah he’s surpassed Dean all the way. Calipari is the poster child for coaching retardation. But if you’re Pope you leave that alone. Pope has been doing this a long time and has a really bad record.

You don’t say anything. It’s like the Yaxel stuff, don’t respond or say something better than that. It’s just embarrassing what both are doing.

I knew Calipari was going to respond to that. I thought maybe he sees pope as too small but nah this is Calipari. Mafia guys have very thin skin. Oh well, as soon as Arkansas challenges him he’s going to bury that little program so at this point grab the popcorn

I’ve said it before but, in 5 years Eric Musselman took Arkansas to 3 consecutive sweet 16’s and back to back final 8’s .

John Calipari will never replicate that success.

The problem with Calipari's teams, you can't look at the success of this team and think "we will build on it." You're only hoping the next recruiting class is good enough to win it all. Rinse and repeat.

What do you see in Pope that gives you any hope? The team was lacking in fundamentals and understanding of the game in every aspect. Our players weren’t even in good condition. Do you notice how many players put on weight or muscle over the season? Answer none. What game adjustments did you see that you liked? Did he hold players accountable? Answer absolutely not when it came to plan in time.
