Looks like the trade screwed Jake

Jake is not in the opening day starting lineup. The outfielders that are starting are batting first, third and fifth. The guy that bats third is also a switch hitter. So looking pretty crowded.

He dealt with some of that at Tampa Bay as well. Have to battle into the lineup and does much better against right handed pitchers. Guessing we will see that now as well

All three had around 20 home runs last year, but I don’t know anything about them. One is listed as 1B. The guy leading off had horrible average last year, and they had Jake lead off some in spring training, so will be interesting to see if they put him in that slot

I noticed that he had the second most ABs during spring training so I thought he was getting a good shot to be a starter but he is listed 2nd or 3rd in each OF position in the depth chart.

The other two starters are lefties and one of those is Oneil Cruz. It just depends on how much the manager wants to use 4 outfielders to rest folks since Jake can play any position in the outfield.

Unfortunately Jake will not start over any of those three most days. They just got o'hern from the Orioles

Maybe they will be rethinking Oneil Cruz in the outfield after that inning. They probably moved Cruz from short because of Konnor Griffin.

Yup, Cruz just looked like a Little Leaguer on two balls Jake catches in his sleep. Cost the Pirates at least 3 runs. Skenes just got pulled in the 1st Inning.

He'll get his chances.

Not a single announcer on the broadcast is blaming the Centerfielder for Skenes short stint. Did they watch the inning?

Skenes pulled in first inning

Reminds me of seeing our players hung over and playing like sheet

Jake is just one of those guys MLB simply won't give a chance. But let one of those guys go down for a couple of weeks and get him in the lineup and let's see if they can take him out.

Well, they sent Konnor Griffin down to Triple A instead of the opening day roster.

Not seeing anything that makes me think this is an improved version of the typical bad Pirates teams.

Without Lowe they're getting beat 9-1 in the 5th. With him and his two HRs it improves to 9-4.

I watched 2 games of Rays vs Pirates last year in Tampa… back when Cruz had dreads so he was so easy to spot…

Dude exudes DGAF in everything he does. One of those guys you watch and think… my God if I had his talent I’d be HoF.

But instead no one will remember his name.

That's just to get an extra year on the free agency count. If they bring him up in a few weeks they have him for 5 years instead of 4. Happens to all the top rookies.
Yeah. He’ll start 120 games for them minimum this year. They’re just sacrificing the first month of the season a bit to get an extra year down the road. He’s going to be a special player. On the level of Skenes.

Who is that?

Nevermind, I think figured it out.

It's the LSU gymnarcissist ??
Exactly. Every time her little media team concocts another appearance, it just makes her less and less appealing. It's sophomoric

Two things are true at once: Skenes was not sharp AND Cruz cost him a handful of earned runs.
Yeah, he walked two guys in that inning and the triple over Cruz's head was a hard hit ball (103 off the bat) that could easily be misjudged. The dropped pop up was inexcusable however.

Skenes walked the guy before the play that burned Cruz after being ahead in the count. And THAT's what opened the door to the big inning.
