First Davis got fired just days ago, now Will Wade is leaving NCST after only 1 year and heading back to LSU.

Edit: Anticipating the mandatory post, No, there is absolutely no chance either school wants Paris in any capacity.

Pardon my lack of knowledge - was Wade forced to leave due to scandal and they wanted him right back anyway?

This extract is from the article ESPN put out today:

Wade's return to Baton Rouge comes just over four years after LSU fired him on the eve of the NCAA tournament.

The school received a notice of allegations from the NCAA detailing five Level I violations and a Level II violation involving Wade, ultimately leading to a two-year show-cause order and a 10-game suspension in June 2023 for three Level I violations.

Wade was found to have made impermissible payments to the former fiancée of a player, while also failing to cooperate in an investigation and failing to promote an atmosphere of compliance.

Wade was also suspended shortly before the 2019 NCAA tournament after reports revealed that a federal wiretap captured him discussing a "strong-*** offer" for a recruit.

I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around this abrupt shift in the Wade saga.

Tough luck for NC State to be looking for a coach the same time as UNC. Not that they'd be fishing in the same pond.

Apparently the Governor of LA is orchestrating everything:

He's good friends with Wade and wanted him back last year. The LSU AD at the time wouldn't do it, so that AD is now history and replaced with a lame-duck interim AD for the time being.

The previous President at LSU leaves abruptly to take new same position at Rutgers University. He since made public comments that changes in the LSU Board presented "changes" in the forward direction of LSU, and that he lost support - meaning, he saw writing on the wall and chose to act proactively instead of waiting for (his) head(s) to roll in the process of those "changes".

LSU hires new President Wade Rousse from his same position at McNeese: McNeese was the landing spot that former LSU MBB coach Will Wade landed at after being terminated from LSU. His AD at McNeese was Heath Schroyer.

Schroyer has now been hired at LSU and by new LSU President Rousse in the role of "Senior Deputy Athletic Director". Most are saying his promotion to full Athletic Director is impending, replacing the current interim AD. Schroyer hired Will Wade to his head MBB Coaching job at McNeese after LSU let Wade go.

Most of what is playing out now has essentially been discussed as underway in LA media for close to a year, and was always expected. No one at LSU is surprised by what is happening now.....

If you want to have successful programs this is the way you have to do things. I remember when Stanley Roberts was being recruited. LSU wanted him so badly (to go with Shaq) that they hired his HS coach from LR. SC is too genteel to ever do anything like that. Closest I can think of is when Muschamp hired Bobby Bentley to get Jake Bentley.

lol, I was gonna say after reading that description, I wish we had that kind of commitment to football success, to the point of political corruption with smoky, backroom deals.

Thank you for the deep explanation of the current developments at LSU.
Taking all this into account, it makes one want to witness an epic fail to most if not all athletic endeavors associated with LSU.

They can't have him because of Ray's brilliant buyout, amirite? 😄

Excellent account of the saga. Do you have a particular connection with LSU? That's a good command of the relevant events.

You have to go back to the mid 1950s and how USC basically got the basketball roster of Pikeville Jr. College and the coach to come to USC. Grady Wallace was part of that haul.
