I agree yet disagree. Yes, it is easier to build a roster these days. But it's made it easier for ANY SCHOOL with some money to build a good roster. I'd argue we've lost our key advantage (we cared more, had better fans, had better facilities), as other schools can just dangle some cash and
As for the comparison with Cal. That was the gold standard for a first year with a new coach. Great team, great recruits, and key guys staying from the previous coach. Yet we still only made it one round further and 10 spots higher in the AP poll than we did with Pope. So it's not like we won the damn title.
Lastly, Billy G was significantly worse than Pope.
We will just agree to disagree. Because Pope is terrible!!! I would put my son in the transfer portal if he was my son's middle school Coach...
No doubt. I had to pass written tests, 2 group interview panels, a hands on assessment, and I don't make near what Pope does.
So BCG was a better hire than Mark Pope. That's what you are trying to call out? I just want to clarify because its hard to imagine someone with that low of IQ. I'm not a fan or Mark Pope but BCG was a complete and utter failure.
