Both......but I accept that this is the decision the university made, so I support the university.

*this calls for a uniform thread

Don't like either, both remind me of Scott Stricklins*
I don’t either but if you think Strickland had anything to do with the MState “banner M” logo you’ve been living under a rock. Unless he decided to keep using it during his tenure
Maybe he had more to do with the word logo, being implemented, - can’t remember, but it’s better than the other.

Scalding hot take: interlocking MSU. I think it's hideous and only popular because of nostalgia. Bunch of gen x people are driving the online discourse about it because it reminds them of their prime years. We had like one good year under it, we had more success under the banner M with Mullen. Its blocky and ugly.

I really like the 2nd better for letters, and websites or like on the back of the Jumbotron. The M-State does look good when it has that backlight on the stadium near the Barnes and Noble. The more I see the Scripted State I dislike it.

100% correct.

I've given up the good fight, as our own people try so hard to eliminate what little tradition we have. Baseball is literally all we got, and it's mainly because the toxic side of our fanbase largely stays out of it.

If you're a traditionalist, we've worn variations of the interlocking MSU much more than we've worn variations of the banner M over the years.

I don't get into the logo debates because it's all subjective. The only one I ever truly hated was the Croom-error banner M. But saying that the lovers of the interlocking MSU logo are trying to eliminate tradition is a helluva shltty take.

I just looked it up. The 2nd one has been discontinued (retired) by the university for any promotions.

Let me rephrase, as I see how that could be confusing.

When I say that people are trying to eliminate tradition, it's the ones trying to get rid of Banner M, not just from sports, but from EVERYTHING. And it's our longest running logo - almost 30 years (though I admit the Croom Error ripple was absolute shlt). It's recognized nationwide. It emphasizes 'State', which I think most of us agree is important. It can be pretty sharp at times.

It's the official school logo, and I simply do not understand the assault on it, most of which does come from the interlocking crowd. Our fans don't understand the nuance, honestly. All they think about is the helmet. You can use whatever logos you want, IMO, but keep the official university logo in the background. Example - on the stadium, 50 yard line, midcourt, whatever. And put whatever you want on the helmet and jerseys.

I think we all agree baseball should display M over S more prominently. But I still see no reason not to have M-State in certain places, even in DNF.

It's not a hard concept, to me. It's simple marketing. And some moron will come around and say, "Can'tz muh have a logo thread with muh GoAtS", but in all honesty, I really just hope my damn school doesn't make a huge mistake with this. There's obviously some momentum behind just trashing everything we are and reinventing, for the 155th time in history (it works so well doesn't it?).

Yep, they replaced it with more of a blocked 'Mississippi State'. Which I was alright with, it was a secondary logo. No problem improving those from time to time.

I agree with this take actually. And my scalding hot take is that we should use the M over S as the main logo for ALL sports. The majority of the ones that would be against that take are the baseball-onlyist- They act entitled and don’t want to be associated with the rest of the athletic department- but expect the football program and athletic department to fund their $5 million dollar deficit every year. In other words, our best sports logo is held hostage to be exclusive to a non-revenue money losing sport. These are the same people who stand in the way of the future health of our entire athletic department. They will see with the new rev sharing and as players payrolls increase every year.

I don't like either, but the MS Banner has its place when you have a horizontally oriented space.

The M-State is way too generic. Plus the centering issue sucks.

It's not worth p*ssing off the fanbase even more. The fans want the interlocking MSU logo from the 90s and it looks like they've got it. Not as good as the M-State logo, but much better than &tate. Just keep it for the next 40 years or longer.

I'll give them the helmet. And just leave it there. Heck even in the 90s when we still had the interlocking on the helmet full-time, we had the first iteration of the M-State on the field.

Helmet logos don't matter. LSU, South Carolina, a number of other schools have some sort of off logo on the helmet. I'm OK with letting that go.

The attitude of the interlockers is the bad part of this deal.

Number one, interlockers is our word. You will be cancelled if you continue to say it.

But I also agree with you about the helmet. I love it on the helmet. Looks a million times better than the banner m or the &tate. I also think it doesn’t translate as well to other places like shirts, hats, documents, signs, etc. just let it be the football symbol the way the M over S is for baseball. Just move on at this point.

Consistency matters. Missouri and Mississippi State are the only schools that keep changing their helmet logos.
