Can't really say I wish him the best.

I think it's an odd hire by the Giants. He has never coached a minute of professional baseball. He won a national championship while bringing travel ball attitude to college baseball. I don't know how it's going to translate.

Surprisingly they did really good in the preseason. I’ll be surprised if he can do it for 162 games. But who knows?

It won’t.
He’ll be there 3 years, maybe 4 at best and then fired unless he loses like 200 games in his first two years.

I noted Austin Wells has two hits for the Yankees. He of course was the pride of the Dominican Republic in the WBC, by way of Scottsdale.

He'll be back on Rocky Top in two seasons, if they keep sucking in conference like they have they will throw all kinds of cash at him to get him back.

I think his dismissal from San Francisco will coincide with DVH's forced retirement in Fayetteville, and they'll bring Tony home. It will be funny to watch the Arky fans pull a 180 with their attitudes toward Tony.

Side note: After living in Arkansas for nearly two years, and making some good friends who are Arkansas fans, they are pretty high in the delusional fanbase rankings.

Yes, and anybody with a business in Oxford knows it paid off for that Tulane game. They sold a lot of hotdogs and hotel rooms while we were sitting at home with full vacancies.
So one weekend can cover profit to recover for an 8 figure loss? That's some creative accounting. Indiana gained. Everyone else lost badly.

Good lord, you guys just keep raising the bar. You look ridiculous claiming a national top-4 finish is a failure for the Rebels. Get your head out of the sand. They have been absolutely 17ing killing it in football the last 4-5 years. I hate it, but there's no denying it. I just hope it doesn't continue and they come back down to mediocrity. But we're in real danger of them making the cut and us not if/when a breakaway actually happens.

Correct, it's a totally different skillset. @onewoof said it eloquently:

Going to need to make the transition from hyping up young idiots and move to mentoring grown arse men
Pro ballplayers don't need motivation. It's not about the coach at that level. Probably why they call it manager rather than coach.

College coaching is already different, but it's MUCH different in baseball. It's nearly all recruiting, because the X/O component is so minimal. Again just like travel ball.

Unfortunately this is exactly what will likely happen, and he'll be their Saban. I just hope Oak wins us a few before he gets there.

Or maybe he chooses to eventually revive Mizzou his alma mater. But I figure Arkansas will pay him big.

What really sucks is that Tennessee will likely always be remembered as putting together the greatest SEC baseball team of all time in 2024, from top to bottom. And it's ALL Vitello. Guess it's a tossup between them and 2019 Vanderbilt.

This is true, and especially about their baseball stadium.

They play in a glorified Trustmark Park. Literally. Their stadium has the same design as Trustmark Park. I went to our series there this year. It's certainly a fine place to play, but it is not even in the same conversation as The Dude.

You see these pics of it with the mountains in the background and think wow, what a beautiful setting. You see no mountains if you are anywhere in the vicinity of the stadium. It's all drone shots.

So if and when he comes back to the SEC, I wouldn’t sleep on Mizzou making a big push for him. Not saying he would go but why not go all in on one of your own? Would have loved to have seen Oak vs TV. We brought in a good one!

I'm glad the Giants hired him because I get to continue to root against him. Don't like the Yankees but I'm not unhappy with last night's result.

I didn’t think it was all that ‘pretty’ when I was there. That’s been 16 years ago though. Lot of chain link fence around, and a strip with a bunch of fast food beyond the fence. Looking at a map it doesn’t seem like that’s still the case but anyway, that’s my memory.

We're two games in and the Giants are 0-2. That in and of itself is not indicative of much. But he gave a press conference after game two, and he sure does seem out of his depth.

Motivation grown men that are better men than you are isn't for the faint of heart. They can tell when a coach is mostly concerned about the way HE looks. That's probably the case here.

If you’re getting emotional after 2 games, you’ll be a wreck by September. This season is like 3 college seasons. In 6 months. It’s like nothing he’s ever seen before.
