Which programs will RU compete against to get a new coach? Any big programs out there searching? I know Arkansas in the SEC will…A&M too but not until next year.

Tammi Reiss should be on the short list.

134-71 at Rhode Island, 24-3 this season, including a loss to Rutgers.

Tammi's contract sucks. $425,000 base with no steps until 2027, then 0.025% each year through 2032 (see attachment). $425,000 * 0.025 = $106. That is insulting. If Tammi wins 20 games, she earns a whopping $2,500 bonus.

Tammi is disgruntled her team's success isn't attracting students to the games. Tammi wants to do a free beer event for students but can't because the university banned alcohol from campus. "What else is there to do in South Kingston?" Tammi complained, mispronouncing the town's name.

Keli can double Tammi's base salary and provide meaningful performance incentives. I don't think a free beer giveaway would work at a Rutgers women's sports event though. Maybe try that for non-conference men's games.

Get Thiabault from Fairfield.
Thiabault kooks like a good get and will be moving up the HC ranks

I don’t think after paying Quese’s buyout Zinn will go after the type of HC that will command bid bucks, but go after winners with ties to the HYC/Northeast area
Alisha Kresge of Vermont fits that category and at 40 is a rising star. She'd be a good get

Then there’s someone I had mentioned for the job when RU was liking and picked Washington.
Tammi Reiss of Rhode Island would be an excellent choice , in my opinion, and is a proven winner.

Chelsea Newton currently the associate head coach at Texas A&M was an assistant at Rutgers and a star player for the Scarlet Knights.
Though she doesn’t have HC experience, Chelsea’s considered a rising star in the college coaching ranks and expected to land her own program in the near future.
Newton, in my opinion would be worth gambling she’d make a great HC and be able to connect with the RU WBB fanbase, along with build a winning program ( In my estimation> which really is a guess)

And what is this fabled RU profile you speak of?
Someone that can win the recruits in the NE. This coach has shown the ability to recognize local and international talent. Not something we have had with the current coaching staff.

Rhode Island is having its best season ever by far. 2026 will be the first NCAA bid in 30 years.

Tammi turned the Rhode Island program around using ingenious recruiting. Knowing she couldn't recruit American players due to the program's poor track record, Tammi and her Paris-born associate head coach recruit France, arguably the deepest pool of women's basketball talent outside the US.

By hiring Tammi to Rutgers, Rutgers would get a proven program turnaround artist from a flagship state university program, a top assistant, and a unique recruiting pipeline.

Tammi would double her salary at least, have a landing spot for her top assistant, and be in charge of a program with a long term record of success and history of fan support.

Every college basketball team suffers a bad loss each season. At least Tammi experienced Jersey Mike's at its best with 6,000 in attendance.

From Women's HoopDirt
A long time HC who coached at some top programs.

University of South Florida CEO of Athletics Rob Higgins has named veteran SEC head coach Kristy Curry as the seventh head coach of the Bulls women’s basketball program.

Wow. Princeton's Berube takes the Northwestern job. Did RU even call her? McKeowan did announce his retirement a year in advance, so it's possible they've been talking for a while.

But between Berube, Curry, Reiss, plenty of head coaches who have taken teams to the tournament getting new jobs.

Northwestern made a great hire,

Thiabault from Fairfield might be someone Princeton goes after.
But I look for Lauren Battista Gossellin to move up from assistant to Princeton's HC

If Rutgers didn't even talk to some of these coaches and many highly experienced assistants, that is too bad. Our hire within a week of the Coach Washington termination looks like Coach Redus was going to be the pick all along. Rutgers deserved a national search. We don't know if we had one.

I wouldn't be surprised if the choice was made before the upcoming fire, just had to wait for the right time to offer after the firing.Mutual friends from LSU probably let Zinn know if he'd accept the job before she offered it.
So the search was over before it began.
He looks like a good get , so no complaints here,

72 says she was only interested in a high academic job but honestly its one of the worst jobs of power 4 conferences

Parkinson’s Butler teams posted a record of 54-73 with two WNIT appearances in his four seasons.

Ayla Guzzardo, who led McNeese State to the best single-season turnaround in NCAA Division I women’s basketball with a school-record 29 wins this past season, has been named the fourth full-time head coach of Georgia Lady Bulldog basketball,

that hire was quick after this announcement
Abrahamson-Henderson compiled a 69-59 overall record with a pair of NCAA tournament appearances during her four seasons as Georgia’s head coach.

I have heard mistreatment of staff and maybe players was the cause (The school did not provide any reason for Agugua-Hamilton’s firing, saying simply that she “will not return” as the team’s head coach. However, USA Today reported Sunday that Agugua-Hamilton had been the subject of an internal investigation, and that there had been allegations of staff mistreatment.)
