I thought Florida might go to their 7' 9" guy on that final play

He never played vs. Iowa, but he did get some time in their first-round win over Prairie View. I was afraid they'd station him under the basket, lob it to him, and he'd stand flat-footed and drop it in the basket at the buzzer with Iowa being unable to do anything about it. What a nightmare that would have been.

Did he even play at all?

Iowa would have leaned on him; he would have never got within 10 feet of the basket ……… how long are his arms?

Yes, it was a nightmare, although only 7 ft.

There's a reason he has played like 3 minutes total this year.
Watching him warm up, I questioned his athleticism, his ability to cleanly catch the ball despite having enormous hands, his agility to move under the basket. Almost more of a liability without more strength and experience.

I think my response was going to be “No way that mentally-challenged skinny Frankenstein gets anywhere near the basket.”

But your response was more cordial.

Oops.

Well, standing under the basket for a few seconds and trying to drop the ball in the basket might not be asking TOO much, especially when you see what a brilliant job Florida did with that final play, managing to not even get a shot off. How could the 7-9 option have been a greater failure?

Except he's actually not skinny. Looks like a regular proportioned guy just overscaled. I don't think he'll ever see meaningful playing time unless he absolutely conditions his butt off.

That’s subjective I guess. He’s shaped a heck of a lot more like Manute Bol than he is Shaq.
