One of the things lost in the mayhem of that last shot by AF.....

The inbounds pass to Stirtz was perfection.
Absolutely. The funny thing about that was AF was supposed to be the inbounder, but Ben didn't trust him with the pass in that situation, so he put Coop as the inbounder. It was a perfect inbound, with a perfect head of steam, that led to a perfect corner bounce pass to AF that he put perfectly thru. One of the most flawlessly executed end of game plays I've ever seen.

Yep; I posted the exact same thing in the linked thread yesterday. :)

What I posted yesterday:

Alvaro was originally going to be the inbounder on the game winner. But Ben was worried he'd take too much of a risk with the entry pass so he had Cooper inbound the ball instead.

No,Alvaro could have dribbled around for a couple seconds and put more arch on the shot so that Florida did not have 4+ seconds to get all the way to the hoop as I experienced a mini stroke waiting for the inevitable buzzer beater. 😁

their PG had plenty of time to get off a shot; I was wafting for "it always goes in" to happen.

Our guys hustled so well on that play that we had 2 guys in great position to rebound had it missed. Just a fantastically called play with a ton of options.
Don’t forget Iowa’s defense those last few seconds. Forcing Florida to use time dribbling and steering the player too far under the basket to shoot, and walling him off from passing it.

Yes, there's seldom, if ever, a case where it's one player. Hell, Cooper Koch hit four threes, and that one late from the top of the circle with a guy in his face was fabulous. He played great D all game, and then he makes the perfect pass to Stirtz to set up the game-winner from Alvaro. Everyone who played did something to help Iowa win, and those who didn't play helped in practice and with their support and enthusiasm and focus from the bench. It's called a team for a reason, and these Hawkeyes, right now especially, are a team that's greater than the sum of its parts. Like Ben says, if you wanna be a prima donna, go somewhere else. But if you wanna be a part of a team, if you wanna be part of something greater than yourself, maybe consider Iowa City.

Damn, let's go Hawkeyes! Beat the Huskers!

Cooper & Alvaro get a lot of grief on here. They both saved our @$$ on Sunday.

Imagine if Alvaro had shot 50% from the FT line like the rest of the team did? Instead, he went 6-6 (100%).

Imagine if Cooper went 0-fer from three, like Bennet did? Instead he went 4-6 (67%).

The numbers:

IOWA FT shooting:

5-10 (50%): Tavion
6-6 (100%): Alvaro
3-6 (50%): Rest of Team
......................................................
14-22 (64%): Overall
=================

3 point shooting:

4-6 (67%): Coop
0-9 (0%): Stirtz
3-9 (33%): Rest of Team
......................................................
7-24 (29%): Overall

Since you cracked that egg (all be it in humor)...that's a trend we've seen cost a lot of teams.

They get so obsessed with using up all of the clock, they fail to get a good shot. Get a good shot, take it in rhythm. Instead we often see players toss up a prayer brick as the clock runs out. (see the Iowa women's game Monday). The objective is to get a good shot and score...NOT to run out the clock. That is secondary.

Another lost half or full second here too...watch the clock on the FL inbounds, I'm glad it didn't matter yet it was slow to start unless the TV feed was off. That reverse angle of the wrap around pass was too much to handle, not enough time to get a shot off yet Iowa pushing the dribbler to edges bled the clock, nicely done I'll remember this forever.
