There's more talk about Robbie leaving than JDF being in the portal.

Not sure what that says more about - JDF as a player or the overall state of the program. Personally I don't think he's much of a loss.

Well we shouldn't be surprised. He has an 8 ball tattoo that, according to an AI summary, "symbolizes luck, risk-taking, and living on the edge." Figures**

Not much of a loss? You really trust Janstastic and George Lazy Brooks to find somebody better than him in the portal?

Sorry I’m one of those baseball “idiots” that thinks basketball should be a club sport.
Hot take. NIL has had the worst impact of all to the integrity of the sport in basketball. Basketball was already shady, now it's just garbage to watch and too many hands in the pockets.

Two options here.
1. We find a better big and get better in the post. OK, fine by me.
2. We stay level or get worse with a portal big, struggle next year, and Jans is out. Also fine by me.

JDF (to me) was only impressive because he was competing for playing time against:
  • Ballard, maybe the worst starting big man we have had in quite some time;
  • Walker, body by Krispy Kreme and dirty to boot
  • Bartlett, Renardo Sidney part two
I would have a hard time coming up with a rotational post player in the SEC that I would choose JDF over. He was only playing for us because we needed a body and he looked halfway competent in November.

King Grace can go as well. Don't need someone shooting one handed threes. Can't believe he's gotten this far with the lack of shooting form.

Basketball was always like this, adding in NIL/portal turned it into a dumpster fire.

The mindset of basketball players is usually very different than that of football and baseball players. Most football/baseball players are realistic about what their chances are to reach the next level, while every single basketball player thinks they are going to make the NBA. Years of playing AAU and listening to these coaches they have typically promote that. Most of these AAU kids come from middle class households with parents that hemmorage money for their kids basketball careers as opposed to the NBA greats in the 80s/90s/00s that came from nothing.

I don't think I agree with you. I think these guys are trying to maximize their earnings in college because they know the NBA is not going to come calling for them. That's why you see more and more players in their 4th and 5th years still in college. There will always be the one and done guys, but if you aren't one of those, then your best bet for money is probably to stay in college.

I have heard first hand that basketball teams are now paid to win on top of their base salary. Signing a player keeps going up and if you do not pay them to win you get what we saw on our team this year. Dead beats.

Football is not far behind. Basketball and the sport of the game is dead.
