Perspective. In Calipari’s 14 eligible post seasons at Kentucky, he had 6….

….seasons of either one tournament win, or zero tournament. 4 seasons he didn’t win a game in the tournament. 2 other years he won 1 game in the tournament win. So, let’s do the math. 14 seasons, 6 out of those 14 seasons he won zero games, (didn’t make the tournament twice) or won one tournament game.

That‘s almost half his seasons here being extremely disapointing.

Obviously had to throw out the year with no tournament.

Chill out.

Let’s give it a chance, and get behind this staff.

It may or may not work out, but it’s way too early to give up. Remember Hurley and Golden’s first two seasons were worse than Pope’s, and their schools stayed patient.

Cal and Mitch share way more blame in how Kentucky basketball has gotten to this point than Pope.

Despite Mitch, there were things Cal could have done and IS now doing at Arkansas that he should have been doing here.

That said, I think you will be on board with the rest of us this time next season unfortunately. This is going to get worse before it gets better.

UConn was on probation when Hurley took over that program. They got better each season he was there. You’ve been told this probably 4 or 5 times already

Todd Golden was better his second season than his first. Florida won the championship year 3. Do you really believe we’re in that same position at this point with pope? Even after he completes his roster, I would be very surprised if it’s one that will compete for a national championship.
Goldens worst season which was his first, they still finished higher in the SEC than we did this year.

This is Kentucky….like Coach Pope has said this isn’t acceptable.

Agree that the tournament is unpredictable, even for HOF coaches. I can remember many times when Bill Self flamed out in the round of 64 or 32.

The difference is that Cal already had a long track record of success before being hired here.

Anyway, I agree that everyone has to decide how they want to deal with the fact that we're getting another year whether anyone likes or not - kick and scream, disengage for a bit, or just grab some popcorn and watch it play out. Realistically, I don't think I can do the last one; I'm leaning towards just unplugging for awhile.

Golden took San Francisco to first ncaa tournament in 25 years,, and Hurley turned around every program he was at before uconn.. Both coaches had already showed they were great upcoming coaches.. Pooped has only shown he's decent at best at every stop he's been at.. So comparing those 2 coaches to Poope is retarded..

No he isn’t Golden or Hurley and no he won’t ever be. He did nothing at Utah Valley, did nothing at BYU and now has finished 6th and 9th in the SEC.
Golden took San Francisco to 30 wins. Hurley took Rhode Island to the tournament twice and won 25 games at Wagner. Pope couldn’t even win a tournament game at BYU something the coach before him did and the coach after him did.

Both of those coaches showed steady improvement at UConn and Florida. Also Hurley was at UConn when they went to the AAC or whatever conference it is. They had no big conference interested and was on probation. He took over the program at its worst point since back before Calhoun was hired.

By whatever excuse you want to make for Pope not being able to coach that dog just won’t hunt.

But since you have a Cal obsession, under Cal’s 15 year tenure here UK won more NCAA tournament games than any other coach. Also more games against higher seeds than anyone.

But that has nothing to do with Pope. Pope is very capable of showing that he can’t coach without any Cal reference. Good or bad.

Pope does nothing well as coach.

Even the worst coaches usually have at least one redeeming skill that you can point to. Pope has none.

What was his resume before coming? Was there proof he could be successful?

How were the other half of those seasons?

Yeah noticed he didn't mention the 4 final fours n 5 seasons.

Cal stayed 5 years too long. It'd a 10 year job.

So Cal's last years that were so bad most here wanted him kicked out the door vs Pope's record breaking tourney loss and double digit losses? Why are we not allowed to say BOTH sucked and the loser Cal at the end and loser Pope now both need to get the hell out of Kentucky!!!
Amen what the hell is wrong with some of our fans. Cal at the end and Pope now THEY BOTH SUCKED/SUCK.

How prevalent were NIL and the transfer portal when Hurley and Golden got their current gigs?

This whole thing reminds me of a Zach Galifianakis joke:
"My girlfriend looks a little like Charlize Theron...and a lot like Patrick Ewing."

I’m going to try not to get dragged into a long diatribe about Calipari’s woes in some of his seasons at UK, because that’s neither here nor there considering the current situation, but…

Comparing Calipari’s total body of work at UK, or any other of his college jobs, to Pope’s body of work at UK, or any other of his college jobs, is like comparing Emily Ratajkowski to Joy Behar.

Silly AF, and completely foolish 💯

Cal is coaching at Arky now!

Screw him!

He was here before NIL and the transfer portal. I don’t understand how some of you aren’t smart enough to realize college sports has totally changed.

You can buy and build your roster now.
