Digger Phelps completely dismissed Nolan with his comments throughout the game. Let's see, how many national championships did Digger win compared to Nolan?
Amen. A junior college National Championship , a NCAA D1 National Championship and a National Invitational Tournament Championship.

Although I never met Digger, I have met and talked with Nolan, and based on their character and what they’ve done for young men and the game of basket, Digger isn’t even in the same conversation as Nolan.
For what it was worth, he was more known for his tv persona than his time as a coach.

It was during the way back when of the 1991 that he retired as coach, so I guess you are forgiven. He had a 20 year stint at notre dame and a one year windup at fordham before he got hired by notre dame.
