I think that’s a fair quote. This season wasn’t all bad times, and the wins over Cal and Pitino (plus the UT wins) were clearly its high points. There were a few good times too.

But, unfortunately, they were outweighed by the disappointments. A few good wins per season ain’t ever gonna be enough to cut it at UK.

I’ve come to realize MP is nothing more than a charlatan, that’s who is he as a person, he’s gotten through life with a fake persona and having his actual body of work not being subjectively assessed due to being an epic BSer and groveler.

This is like when UK beat Indiana in the Sweet 16 in 2012 and they had commemorative popcorn boxes of the Wat Shot anyway at Indiana because they won the regular season matchup.

Those were two good wins against St. John’s and Arkansas, yet they both went on to win their conference tournament while we didn’t make it past the quarterfinals. They are playing in the sweet 16 while we got rocked by Iowa State without their best player

Ouch!! That makes me want to vomit. I remember when we would be 11-1 against those teams and the only loss was a crazy road environment clipping us by a point or two. Ugh that stat is sickening.
Those days are long gone even before NIL. When other schools in the SEC started hiring Pearl, barnes, Oates, etc,. Same goes for other conferences. You think the Big Ten enjoys Nebraska waltzing through it? Times have changed.

We said that about Cal. Many of the posters on here called him a snake oil man. Do you think Pope is the same or worse? And if worse how do you compare?

And even more sickening, is it's likely to get even worse next year. We gotta go to Athens and Gainesville next year. We got Bama at home but Oats is 4-0 vs. Pope. We might beat Bruce Pearl Jr. and Auburn next year in Rupp.

That is sad. You never never ever blame the former coach on a contrast/comparison after you have completed a season or two, no matter if it was 100 percent his fault. That is so petty. What you do is take full responsibility for your own crappy record and let everybody know that you're going to fix this nonsense or your leaving. If he did that and still failed this year and then left, he would be respected.

The more he talks and attempts to polish a turd, the more attention he brings to the fact that it's a turd.
He'd be better off hitting the recruiting trail with all he has instead of trying to bs us.

Well you did beat them.

Would Arkansas or St John's get past Iowa State?

With their player out probably but hard to say.

But with their full roster I think Iowa State beats St John's and Arkansas playing in the same place.

What about being 1-11 combined vs. Florida, Bama, Auburn, and Georgia the last two seasons, Mark ? 🤡
Well the one win was against the Mational champs. You picked 4 out of what 15 teams. Thats cherry picking. Don't get me. Pope is giving us a lot of reasons to feel he needs to be replaced and be very very dissatisfied with this year's results and effort. I will say I don't include last year I thought with everything that was going on starting with a completely new team and then very significant injuries resulting in a Sweet sixteen was an outstanding coaching job.. I thought last year from scratch he put together a very good team and this year they just got a group of individuals together that very seldom played like a team

Cherry picking ? LMAO. Call it whatever you want, still no excuse to be 1-11 against those four teams combined. 1-11 is freaking ATROCIOUS. Abysmal. I could understand 5-7 or maybe even 4-8 or 3-9 even but 1-11 ? My God. And it's not like there's much good to "cherry pick" from. Mark Pope is 23-19 vs. the SEC. He's 46-26 overall. He sucks as a Head Coach, plain and simple. What good is there to "cherry pick" the bad from ? 4-1 vs. Tennessee ? His 1 loss to them was in the game that the mattered the most by far..the Sweet 16. So, that dampers that 4-1 record vs. Tennessee pretty good. So, what else ? 3-0 vs garbage LSU ? 2-0 vs. garbage South Carolina ? 🤔

I was on a streak liking every reply on this thread until a handful of nut gobblers jumped in and killed the vibe.

Much worse. Pope is the snake oil salesman. Cal never sold snake oil, at least not where it matters -- if he did, he would not have the love he has from 3 generations of players. He truly meant "players first" and he was getting the results from it, for the most part. The guy may have been a dick to fans, but he supported his players and looked out for them every step of the way. He told Dajuan Wagner Sr to go to the draft and get his contract ASAP before his injuries flared up. To me, that is the pinnacle of caring for your players. He will always get good players because of this until he retires.

Pope's results speak for themselves. If he were getting recruits and winning, we could excuse the idiotic, overly positive drivel he gives in his pressers. But he doesn't get results, and he doesn't win. THAT's snake oil.

They actually won things that mattered before ncaa (conference tourney) so they wouldn't have to play Iowa state n the second round.

Pope needed a miracle to beat effing Santa cause.
