Please explain to us exactly how much we are supposed to value tournament performance.
@eyesofhawk just likes to post contrarian whataboutism word salad bullsh** to say that fans aren't "fan"ing the right way according to his old hairy as*.

😉

If the trend were the other way, and that fans were placing too much emphasis on regular season success, he would say we need to place more emphasis on tournament success and that we should feel bad for not doing so.

That is his whole schtick on this board.........

Iowa > Iowa.

Cool. Got it
Iowa > your version of women's athletics and its place in society

You're not good enough for this fanbase, old fart. Time to move on. 🙂

That's interesting, considering my comment about overvaluing the postseason came only in response to Fivecard having posted the women's season record. Quite a schtick, when it wouldn't even have been mentioned if not for Fivecard's post.

What you say has nothing to do with this thread. This point of this thread was say that although the women's loss sucks, it was necessary to help bring back men's attendance.

Here, I'll help you decipher the schtick. Fans never gave the '24/'25 team a chance. Then they tried justifying the lack of attendance by citing "poor product". But Franball had been the same product for 15 years. The main reason for the significant drop in men's attendance the last few years, was the significant increase in women's attendance since Clark

You’re so full of sh*t. People stopped attending men’s basketball games because they were sick and tired of Fran’s 15 years of failure after failure. Men’s games will start being full again because they actually have an exciting quality product to draw fans. That was going to happen regardless of the women’s NCAA tourney performance. Stop using the women’s program to justify Fran’s demise.

No. The significant dip in men's attendance began at the exact same time as the significant increase in women's attendance, with Clark.

Yes, this tournament run will help men's attendance.

It will further be boosted by getting back some of the fans who have instead been going to women's games. Many fans simply can't support both programs. And a cult-like fanaticism from women about women has had its grip

Someone should tell Fran that his kid is banging the woman that he should be blaming for his termination. Is that why BF got fired, too?

You should stick to your bad takes on the football board.

We really did look good at the end of the B1G season and B1G tournament, especially against Michigan. Then the name-on-the-jersey effect against UCLA, IMHO. And just was never the same, something looked off in round 1 game.

If we had the Oklahoma coach that wouldn’t be the case.
I agree. I posted same in women’s board. When bluder left after waiting an extended period after season put Goetz in a precarious position with roster retention, recruits hs/portal (as they had already gotten top tier one with Lucy Olson) and bluder kind of forced her hand as we’ve seen in other places like Pearl at Auburn with his son they elevated hand picked successor by previous coach.

Jan excellent asst. with post players but doesn’t always mean will be a great HC like football when coordinators get head jobs. Jenny at OU much younger and with a lot more experience as Hc and proven winner. Playing the long game I think she would’ve been the better hire. Bluder left jan in a phenomenal spot taking over a program with its roster and recruits. But unfortunately her first 2 years she’s turned into “Jan mccaffery” come March and not making 2nd week.

1988 was the last time both teams made the Sweet Sixteen. Men finally filled their side of the bargain but the women fell through in disappointing fashion.
Wow. And a couple days ago the vast majority would have said the women would make the Sweet Sixteen for sure and the men would have no chance at all. Again we see why they play the games.

But it was a devastating way for the women to end a terrific season. I'm not sure they ever got over the UCLA thing. But they still had the game in their hands at the end of regulation and the first OT and still couldn't get it done. Then everything unraveled in the second OT. It's just a shame and really put a damper on the joy we were feeling after the men's awesome win.

No choice but for everyone to move on and keep the magical run from the men going all the way to the Final Four. Why not us?

Hannah 1-6 from the free throw line. Team 5-29 from 3. That'll sink anyone. Shocking that it even went into OT.
Double OT, actually. Yah, Iowa lost that game more than Virginia won it, but gotta give credit to Virginia for hangin' in there and battling both the Hawkeyes and 15,000 Iowa fans. They just wouldn't quit until, finally, Iowa handed them the game.
