He cannot take his time to "mourn" or whatever he wants to call it. The transfer portal will move quickly, and because POPE put all of his Eggs into the transfer basket, he has to move quickly. I don't have faith he will do this, but hopefully the pressure will force him to make quick decisions.

Sometimes with analytical types (speaking from experience), procrastination and analysis are not friends. He does very well when his back is against the wall.

Just find 2 or 3 of decent players at every position and make sure they don't get hurt throughout the season. easy, right?

I'm interested to see how his "name on the front of the jersey" pitch is going to go.
Terribly. The staff who recruited all these guys we still can’t get are going to be gone. So what now Pope has to close this alone? Or hope his new hires can in a few days? This is about to get really ugly. From what I’ve seen it won’t be a big loss but I don’t know how he can replace his whole staff and recruit Stokes, Pate, and the portal.

Kentucky Basketball is at its worst because of poor leaders from the top down. Softness and poor leaders gives you what we have witnessed in last 5 years. Cal got comfortable, Mitch was on the company dime and will remain there and Mark isnt good enough. Not for sure were we go or how long it takes to get there. Just a bad situation and nothing Mark can do will save us. 10 loss seasons and early exits

I wonder if he realizes that if he screws up next year he’ll go down as more hated than Billy G and Sutton.
You’re exactly right! I actually think he might already be in that territory. Sutton was before my time but most of Gillespie’s tactics didn’t come public until after he left (Alex Legions GF, Stevenson and Harrelson incidents). I truly believe next year may be one of the worst years in UK basketball history excluding the covid year.
