And that’s why people had hope after his first press conference. I was expecting a bunch of white dudes that shoot the 3 at a >40% clip. Instead we got a bunch of dudes that can’t shoot for ****.

I don’t wanna hear about NIL. Just go get the best shooters. Noah isn’t one of them. I don’t care about Stokes either. GO GET SHOOTERS LIKE YOU PROMISED POPE.

We got punched in the face early and often this season.

Do we know if Pope has an actual plan on offense? The story is that our roster couldn't understand it so he dumbed it down. Are we sure it will be a thing of beauty if he gets the right players?

The worst part of this years offense was having Malachi thinking he was Amari.
If you are hell bent on running that kind of offense, then you have to have a totally different kind of center.

That has always been his philosophy, the problem is that moving into the SEC last year, he had shooters, but lacked defense & physicality, this year he tried to bring in what he lacked & thought he had better shooting than what he actually did. I'm gonna bet he tries to add more shooting next year & maybe a few defensive type players. We definitely need 2 PG than can drive & shoot & one of them needs to be a Lamar Butler type on defense. We need wings that can shoot & he needs to replace Jelavic with a big guy that can actually make 3's. He also needs to study & i mean study like religiously the Iowa St defense & use it.

Unfortunately we would foul out half the team by the first TV timeout if we play Iowa St defense.

I feel the same way in theory but it was what 11 or 12 FT's to zero before we finally got to shoot one as it was. It routinely causes us to have to substitute and back off of our aggressiveness.

They both have enriched themselves while hurting UK sports. It’s shameful.

Honestly, yes.

A lot of folks seem to have short term memories. We were top 10 in PPG in Pope's first year. Battling injuries all year long, losing our second leading scorer at the end of the season, having a beat up PG all year.

Im not here to defend Pope but I think we saw what his offense could be. I think he severely missed on building this years roster to fit that mold and had to adjust and it didnt pan out. (combo if him and the players IQ)

The biggest thing Pope needs to prove is that he can identify AND land the correct pieces. Because without them, I dont think he will be successful.

when I was growing up, a lot of coaches discouraged young players from being outside shooters because it was "soft" and not how the game was supposed to be played. Basically you'd have Dollar General Brand Bobby Knights on one side, and then Pitino/Richardson style coaches on the other. No matter what though, you had to be tough.

Pope isn't a three point shooting philosophy coach. His philosophy is "touch money". It's Gen Z trauma fetish nonsense. He takes a soft approach to everything, and rests his hat on being able to do better on standardized tests than you.

It was false hope. Pope doesn’t have an offensive philosophy or defensive or recruiting. He ***** in one hand and wishes in the other and see which one fills up first.

Our shooters had many great looks and missed. What happened with Noah? I thought our own players were saying he was the best shooter they had ever witnessed?

Pope found players he likes in year 1. Yet at the end of the day they were not SEC caliber players and their defense was bad as well as their athleticism.

Then to complete in the SEC he got this roster after many no's. He thought he could teach them offense. He could not.

Pope's tenure if beyond 3 years will look a lot like his first and second season. When he gets his guys, like the first season. When he can't, like this year. Which is not acceptable at all.
