I answered NO as I do not think he’s the answer.

However, I hope for the sake of all us and our program he proves me wrong and brings home #9 next season and #10 the season following.

No.
So has it been officially announced that he is back or is it still speculation?

Absolutely not. Every school in the SEC cares way more about football than basketball, we're the only ones where it is the exact opposite, and we suck at both. Whole administration needs to get gone or we will be toast like IU basketball

NO.

Hell I never did. I thought I was in some nightmare when reports started coming out that we were actually hiring him. I basically think a retarded circus monkey is smarter than Barnhart and even still I didn’t think he’d be STUPID enough to even contact Pope, let alone hire him.

The fact that only 11% support Pope, and a good chunk of that 11% are rival fans based on their name, tells you all you need to know.

Pope is dead man walking. He’s a lame duck coach next year. Even if by some miracle he managed a decent season and even makes an elite 8, it won’t matter. He’s already lost the support and trust of the vast majority of the fanbase and for a lot of us it doesn’t matter what he does, he will never get it back. He’s already proven him incompetent. You can never again trust a person who shows they’re a moron and they’ve done absolutely nothing in their entire coaching career that could make you think they’re a great coach.

Maybe Pope can bring in KC and the sunshine band for Big Blue Madness. That should land us some dudes for 2027. Oh yea we aren’t in the top 2 with any of those guys either.

Nothing would make me happier than for Pope to right the ship (and right it damn quick). But he's not shown that he has the chops for it, and he's put himself in a position where the task is only gonna get harder. So, after several years of suffering through Cal's descent (and Stoops's descent), there's a very real possibility that now we're gonna have to suffer through Pope's descent. And that makes a long wait for greatness.

The root issue has always been Mitch. It all depends on the new AD who is hired.

For all parties including he and his family, I wish he’d take a negotiated buyout, we immediately hire a successor to Barney, and that person selects the new coach. But yeah, if he’s determined to stay I’m going to root for him to succeed. And I damn sure don’t want Mitch hiring anybody else.

I vote for yes, hoping coach pope is a clean hire.........and that we miss on coaches that would stain the program with controversy.

Even if it means not winning every friggin game, he has won some good games this season. He beat st johns, and vandy. Did have a time trying to comeback against florida.

I'd rather be looking for tickets to games in the tourney but Im not.

I am a UK fan and graduated from UK.

Do I boast about having better solutions, sometimes, but you gotta give Coach Pope the right situation to win big.

He's had arguably some tough situations this year. Shoulda been contenders, but we are not due to player availability that woulda ultimately influenced the coaching.

I will support who ever is coaching, until they are gone. I could never support losing, just for a coaching change, even if we need it.

I did vote No, but if he is back, what a fkn choice.

I will support him as long as he leads the Cats. That does not mean that I was happy with the outcome of this season or that I think he should get more than 3 seasons if he does not turn it around. But, I will support our head coach.

I am only "supporting him", because I want him to be great. But he has to fix all the red flags. Has to.

I have my doubts he can do this, but I don't get to choose what happens here.

If I was the AD, I would ask him a series of questions, if I didn't like the answers, I would terminate him. If he's going to just keep doing the same things, there's no use in keeping him.

Now, I'll say this, aside from the cheeseball personality, the calm demeaner while we are getting punked, the recruiting misses, the lack of game planning and just how soft he is, there were injuries that hurt this teams ceiling and I think more importantly, he lost this team early in the season. something happened and this team never jelled. They just put on an act to make it look like they were tight. They weren't tight and Pope isn’t equipped to fix that.

I'm actually amazed he won 20 games under these circumstances.

But before I allow myself to be confident, I need to see some things happen right away.

1) JJ, BG, Mo D, Noah and Lowe need to be sent packing. I'm okay if he keeps Lowe, but he can't be the best pg we have.

2) He needs to land nothing but elite players at each position, including at least 2 pg's and multiple elite shooters and rebounders.

3) I need to hear him say he's going to hold players accountable and change his substitution patterns.

I'm not going to give him my full support until I see these things. I don't expect to hear him admit his substitution patterns are a problem, that's fine, he just needs to show me he realized his sub patterns were terrible.

I don't know how he fixes his soft personality if I'm being honest, but he has to, he can't coach here if he's going to have the personality of a U10 girls soccer coach.

I voted yes because of the question. I’m always going to support the active coach at Kentucky because I want to win every game. If you would have asked “Would you rather trade Coach Pope for an elite coach?” Id have said yes. Stuff like this question are exactly why I get people on both sides thinking I’m fence riding. You can simultaneously support the coach and be doubtful it will work and/or have valid criticisms. Until someone can prove some tangible advantage I can provide the university of Kentucky men’s basketball team by whining nonstop I might change my mind.

It’s actually not complicated at all.

Can you support your children while also thinking they are knuckleheads? That’s as basic as it gets.

I support the coach and disagree with a lot of the things he does. I also have serious doubts it will work here.

Not complicated unless you want it to be.
I tell you your being complicated and you write the shortest message I’ve seen from you lol

I don’t know what you mean. I could explain my position to a 2nd grader and they’d understand it. I like you bro, but you’re making simple math calculus.

TLDR: I am unhappy with coach. Me still support coach. He is the coach. When new coach comes I support that coach. 😜

I was talking about when you was going into detail because people might think your fence riding. I wouldn’t even worry about it man. Vote how you want and if someone asks explain whatever you feel like

You’d have to understand why I’m on edge. Being honest on here results in all kinds of ridicule all the time. Really gets f***ing old. Especially when the people you’re replying to have no idea what your very basic points are lol. Anything short of fire Pope right this second is full on attack-worthy on here. Never got that from you though to be fair.

Best way to be is don’t care. Say what you want and if someone even attacks, don’t let them upset you. Some people just show up to do that, so don’t let them win. Never take this site serious. You’d be amazed how many fans from other schools show up here just to talk crap as well.
